He also forgot to add that it was necessary to add Blu-Ray to inflate the number of Blu-Ray players sold cuz otherwise they wouldn't have beaten HD-DVD

I dont know if the PS3 is the main reason why HD-DVD is dead. I think it was the studios who fell back from supporting HD-DVD and joined the Blu Ray side that brought Toshiba to stop production of HD-DVD players, discs, etc, with anything involved with Toshiba's HD-DVD tech.

Oh absolute crap! Sony put BR on PS3 because they tought the PS3 would fly off the shelves and movie companies would look at BR hardware sales and think thats a  lot of hardware! Not to mention Sony bought there way through the format war!

Follow Sony and you follow the devil!

"Hey, Steve, just because you broke into Xerox's house before I did and took the TV doesn't mean I can't go in later and take the stereo." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

Bill Gates had Mac prototypes to work from, and he was known to be obsessed with trying to make Windows as good as SAND (Steve's Amazing New Device), as a Microsoft exec named it. It was the Mac that Microsoft took for its blueprint on how to make a GUI.

Blu-Ray price must be going down a lot lately anyways. Wal-Mart has the older Blu-Ray models for $130 or less (I think It's a non-online one for $117 at B&M).

It's just that simple.

"Blu-Ray on the PS3 is the best thing since sliced bread".
^ More or less is what Kaz is trying to say in this article.

PS1 = CD
PS2 = DVD/CD
PS3 = Blu-Ray/DVD/CD

Sony uses a different media format every console generation due to the advancement in technology and wanting to expand console gaming, music and movie industry at the same time.

Business is about innovation by taking risks and bringing new customers to buy its products to result in profits for the company. Risks are made all the time by businesses. Some work out, others don't work out.

mm the reason sony added the blu ray to the ps3 was mainly to win against hd dvd imo...

“So from a gaming standpoint there was really no choice if you wanted a high definition gaming experience.”

Bollocks, you can get a HD gaming experience on the 360.

Yes, but the PS3 has a time machine, so you can go into the future, and have an HD gaming experience there!

You are the first non-PS3 owner to know this.

well you can't have a true HD console that give's your the HD experiences it advertises with out of course having a HD disc format included...and for Sony blu-ray was clearly the only option.

Phony strikes again.

Blu-Ray is not only useless for gaming but it resulted in PS3 being

An overpriced system
with slower transfer rates.

To crown the irony, it's not competitive for movies either..

The funny thing about this is that it was actually underpriced. Concidering it costed more to make. Atleast that's the logic.

@Kantor .. Noes ! how could you tell him of the time machine !.. you signed the pact !

We must spread the truth!
