I don't want to sound like a troll, but I'd say the extra $200 I had to pay was hugely inconvenient. Far more than switching a disc every 10 hours in an RPG (which people have been doing since PS1). That's all it's worth to those of us who don't use the BR player, anyway.
I don't think Blu-Ray was a smart move. However, I think all the other complicated tech in the PS3 was more of a problem.
