I just stepped on the Wii Fit last night and was happy to see I had lost 33 lbs. eating right and moving the body actually works, who could imagine?

I've been working in the fitness industry for close to five years now, and I find it funny when people make comments disregarding software like Wii Fit and EA Sports Active. What people don't realize is is that: a) gym memberships tend to cost upwards of $250 a year ($170+ over that of Wii Fit, and 190 more than EA Sports Active); b) hours of operation don't always line up with work schedules; and c) there's no place where people are more comfortable than at home. I commend you guys on your progress, and good luck staying on target!

lb lost total 19.1lb
I started using EA Sports Active again as my hand now feels fine so long as you don't put pressure directly on the wound area. I also broke 190 since my last update and I pigged out in celebration, but not so much that I'd actually gain weight
My wife bought a 20lb body weight vest that she never used that I was going to sell on e-bay (it was bought a long time ago), but it looks like those things really don't sell on there, so I decided to see what it was like exercising when I first started working out. I put the 30-day challenge on medium intensity and threw on the vest with 16 lbs (slightly under what I really lost so far) and went for it. Those 16 extra pounds make me wonder how I even moved back then
I managed to get through the exercise without skipping anything, but it sure did make things a lot harder.

Excellent results! It is amazing the difference that many pounds make, even if you don;t always realize as you lose it. I've lost almost 40 pounds so far using only wii fit and EA active for exersice (and diet change of course) and while I don't have a 40 pund fat suit, I sometimes get a few gallon jugs of water to measurra how much lighter I have really gotten, it's mind blowing really.
Keep up the good work, and I know that if I ever get to the 190 mark, I will pig out in epic celebration as well :)
Current weight: 187.4
lb lost total 20.9lb
So I managed to meet my 1lb/week goal for the last 4 weeks without exercising much at all in the last month other than walks, the rare exercise and now packing and getting ready to move. However, the last two weeks have been a nice break from eating right and exercising, but I really can't afford to let myself get used to it.
I put on my motorcycle pants today and they are actually semi lose, which is really cool since when I bought them I could barely get them on at all, but I didn't want to pay shipping to exchange them since I bought them online.
Also, once I move into my new house I plan on setting up an exercise room in the basement with my exercise bike and a weight set to start with. I'm hoping my parents will give me the weight set since I used to use it a lot, but I think my younger brother wants it too. If that is the case I'll have to see what the various sporting goods stores stock.

While Wii Fit is a good way for people who have trouble with motivation to lose some weight, it's nothing compared to a gym membership. For one, you don't get access to all the expensive equipment to finely tune your workout to your needs.

Let's see
Gym Pros:
Lots of fancy equipment that I don't really need to lose weight or build muscle.
Lots of big mirror's so I can see my massive biceps.
Gym Cons:
Costs $20/month
Lot's of people who may intimidate me if I'm not comfortable working out in front of other people
I have to drive to it
It is busy when I have free time (right before or after work) and I can't always get on the machine I want
Exercising at home (Wii Fit, EA Sports Active) Pros:
only costs $60-90 for the life of my "membership"
no "observers" so you can be comfortable
You can exercise whenever you want, no lines, no waiting, no other people's sweat on equipment
You can lose weight just as well as in a gym. 500 calories burned at home is just as good as 500 calories burned in a gym
You can go straight to your own private shower after exercising.
Exercising at home Cons:
no fancy equipment.........
I'd argue no trainer as a con, but then I'd have to up the cost of monthly membership.
ok, so now that we've had yet another exercise at home detractor who really doesn't know what they are talking about, let's move on to how much weight you've lost by sticking to your plan. I had free gym membership. I didn't lose a lb with it. Luckily it was free. I hated going over there as there were creepy people.
Let's talk real life. Most of the fancy exercise equipment does isolated muscle exercise. However, isolated muscle exercise is a waste of time. So I have to do tricep exercises, then pectoral exercises, but I don't use any of my stabalizer muscles. Now, if I can hit both my pectorals and triceps at the same time with a simple bench press I can exercise 2 muscles with 1 set of moves. Not only that, but I hit my stabalizer muscles at the same time. More muscles exercised in less time. Not only that, I need 0 special equipment beyond a decent bench and a chin-up bar to hit every muscle that I'm realistically going to hit by using fancy expensive equipment. Heck, Most exercises you can do with a simple set of free weights, no bench needed.
Anyways, thanks for your wonderful contribution to this thread on how to lose weight.

I'd like to participate in this little experiment, but seeing as I'm 6'2'' and 142 lbs I'd like to do the opposite...tracking how much weight is gained.
That ok?
