It's funny when fans of a money-losing company bash a profitable company for being crap and lazy.

It happens with Profitable companies too, Ubisoft says HI.

He is talking about sony not being profitable, not valve, Your response makes no sense.

it happens with profitable comapnies too= Nintendo

ubisoft= wii fans claimed they were lazy for not making good games for it, they even had a boycott.

Clear enough for you.

Valve doesn't port to the PS3, period. Much better than doing half-assed ports which will only piss off those who buy them.

I don't really care, but don't act like it's only ps3 fans who call developers lazy. In fact more developers have dropped the ball on the Wii than the PS3. Valve, on the other hand is a PC developers and the only reason they make games for the 360 is because the 360 is very close to the PC. And given the choice, I'll always choose their PC games anyway.

Now, if they release HALF LIFE 3 exclusive to 360, that would hurt.

@infamous8: Again, they didn't say they can't... they said they don't want to. They don't think it's worth it for them.

You can question the business practice, but this is not due to ignorance or laziness. They simply think their staff has more valuable things to do than PS3 ports.

Im sure it would be profitable if they released a game at the same time on Ps3 as they do for 360.

Some multiplats sell even better on Ps3 (especially this year) and the ones that don't, still sell well over a million copies. GTAIV for example sold much better on 360 but still sold over 5 million on Ps3.

Got to love their games. The only company I will buy second hand from. They don't dererve any of my money until they stop acting like they are god of the PC community, and bashing the PS3. Valve just got to big of a dick, and it needs to be cut off.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

If it's a small team with limited funds that's only really familiar with PC development then I guess it's understandable... I still dislike their attitude to trying new things.

I also hate how some of the statements in this thread are being worded... some of you make it sound like PS3 development is downright Foolish... Which isn't the case.

4 ≈ One

Essentially, Valve is saying that since the 360 and PC are both good enough systems to handle their visions, they have no need to try and learn more difficult tech. Their desire from the get-go is to create the exact game they are trying to make, and the PS3's power difference isn't enough greater then the 360 to make a difference in what kind of experiences they can achieve.

Oh, and BTW...them and Blizzard ARE the gods of computer gaming. Get it right.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Lazy developers!!!

I thought that it used to be about making the effort with the consoles to make the games look the best they could be (at the time of creation of course) and that a challenge would be welcomed!

I for one are glad that Valve aren't making any games on the PS3 since they do not make the effort!

For Valve it's more about putting out quality games. As the OP says they don't care that much about the underlying technologies, so the PS3 philosophy of working a lot to achieve the same results is not much in line with Valve's.

You communicated this very well. I wonder if Sony will follow the same philosophy next generation and intentionally release a console that's difficult to develop for?

It would be profitable, but would it be more profitable than the other things they can do with their staff?

That's the important question. Either Valve doesn't care that much about profits (they're not a public-owned company so they don't have to) or they think the answer is no.

If only business was as simple as you make it out to be. Selling more does not necessarily equate to profits or making a bigger profit. Many factors are involved. Factors you would not be aware of unless you worked for the company.

As of right now, the only thing we can use to speculate is what Valve communicates to us...and Valve does not believe the PS3 is worth development.

I think I should make a thread to complain about the lazyness of Insomniac. Whos with me? I mean they only release on one platform whilst Valve releases on two. So in order of lazyness it goes,

Insomniac > Valve > Infinity Ward > EA!

Really whos with me in bringing the lazy Insomniac to JUSTICE!!!!
