Forums - Gaming - FFXIII:Lighning english voice sucks.

The black guy and blonde guy sound awesome.

But lightning (AS MUCH AS I HATE HER AS A CHARACTER) sounds sexy, i personally liked the way she sounded, really strong imo.

It wasn't bad, they did a good job with the English. Seriously, there's a bunch of anime out there with HORRIBLE English voice acting...

guess we are stuck with it cause 360 is out of space for jpn audio

10 to 1 nearly every english reviewer raves over the great english VA.

Pft, have you heard the vas for so4?  i'm so glad they are going to include full jpn audio for it when it gets upgraded to ps3

its ok but i want Japanese audio with subs

I actually like all the voice actors, although I have never had a problem with any of the FF voice actors. Sad that I didn't notice the voice problems for FF10 until my 4th playthrough and someone had to point it out to me. I like the games to much too check for that. Lol.

I enjoyed all the voices that I heard in the trailer. Might I add, that was the hottest antagonist EVER.

Riiiiiight.

It rules, 'nuff said. Great VA, especially Snow and Sazh.

Japanophiles irrationally hate English voice actors no matter how amazing or talented they are.

Oddly enough, many Japanophiles couldn't tell the difference between a good Japanese VA and a bad one if their lives depended on it.

So true

I think all they care about is that the voices sound cool.

Btw, what does the difference sound like? Can you speak Japanese?

Well I'll give you an example.  Anime is easier so I'll go with that.  Someone growing up in Okinawa is going to sound different from someone growing up in Hokkaido from someone growing up in Tokyo (Kanto).  I don't remember what show I was watching but the Japanese VA spoke with an accent as someone from Okinawa would speak and someone I was watching it with criticized it for sounding odd and different.  It's like going from Wisconsin to Mississippi and expecting the people to speak exactly the same.  The hiring staff actually took the time to get someone with a proper accent and you're criticizing it?  That kind of thing frustrates me.

To your second question, I'm far from fluent but I know enough to get by on a field-trip to Japan and longer if I would be forced to.  Though I would rather not have to stay in Japan for anything longer than a field-trip or mini-vacation.

Thanks for taking the time to explain. It really does make the difference between the western and non fluent users and people who do know enough actual Japanese to make some sense of the voice acting. I can see both sides now and why they each may have differing opinions which are both equally valid for their respective perspectives.

Tease.
