I guess so. Internet hype does not translate into Super Mario Galaxy/Fable 2 week one sales.
Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. " thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."
Give the game some time folks. Just because it didn't sell 500,000 units the first week doesn't automatically mean that it's a flop. Not every gamer out there has money to buy every game they want, they have to pick and choose. If it's a good game, people will pick it up eventually and the game will have good legs.
Question: How long was this on sale for the first week? Only 2 days, right? Or am I mistaken?

Better to wait until the second week totals come out at the very least.
First month sales should be better indicative as to the staying power of Infamous. The game itself is solid; very fun. That alone should keep residual sales from going stagnant quickly.
This seems to be just a slow time of the year for games in general. Punch-Out!! only sold 122k copies its first week. Bionic Commando only sold about 120k combined. The only unexpected hit recently has been UFC Undisputed.
Wolverine was the only other game in the core genre to open to similar first week numbers at 163k combined.
Personally, I really didn't understand any of the hype behind Infamous prior to release as it just seemed like another potentially good PS3 exclusive new IP. But after playing the demo, I was sold. I think I spent about 5-6 hours playing it last night to the point of losing track of time and that almost never happens for me.

lol
| MontanaHatchet said: No sane person thought it was going to cause a boost in hardware sales, and the game is nowhere near as big as MGS4 or Killzone 2. The commercials were great and they played all the time on various stations. The sales aren't amazing but they're still fine. God I need a drink. |
Well it does not help that the game looks generic (I don't care if you love the game it still looks generic). The main character looks like a run of the mill video game character with lightning powers.
The game sold pretty good for a new IP if you ask me. I think it may even sell just as good on the next sales update considering alot of people were waiting on IGN reviews of Prototype.

Prototype and Infamous have similar metacritic scores right now, but Prototype onlly has 13 reviews so far.
