Our mole has sent us another communication, deep from the depths of the deep depths from whence he operates. The first thing he shares is that he's still convinced that the $400 PS3 is coming soon, so we'll be keeping an eye out on that. The rest of this information he gave us seems to be set in stone, along with dates, so it will be easy to verify after Microsoft makes its official announcements. What can we expect from the Xbox 360 at retail in the coming weeks?

  • October 9: The Xbox 360 Pro package will come with Forza 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance as pack-ins. The games will be in one case, similar to the Sega GT 2002/Jet Grind Radio Future combo disc that was packed-in with the original Xbox for a time, but in this case each game will come on its own DVD.
  • October 23: The Elite will get the same package. No price drops on either system, you just get two free games with it.
  • New Xbox Core Sku "at the end of October" that will include a new version of the system with an HDMI port, wireless controller, 256MB memory card, and five arcade games on a physical disc. The games will be Boom-Boom Rocket, Pac-man, Uno, Feeding Frenzy, and Luxor 2. This package is expected to retail for the normal Core price of $279.99.
There you go, October is going to see some nice Xbox 360 deals. Now if we can get that PlayStation 3 price drop, we'll be in business. It looks like we're going to have a very competitive holiday season.
--------------------------------------
I think the new core should bring in some people that just want to play games since it comes with the memory card so is nice to play most of the 360 not needing a hardrive.  The other offerings bringing free games is always nice especially well recieved or review games like forza and marvel.

I think that this bundle in europe could go down very well as Forza 2 is by far the best simulator on the market and will be until GT5 next year. It should actually help in nations outside of the UK. That said, if the PS3 really does get a 299 pounds PS3, even a downgraded one, the 360 will probably need a price cut to compete.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

My Xbox bundle came with Forza 1 and Fuzion Frenzy, so that doesn't sound unlikely. It sounds a lot better (damn Fuzion Frenzy sucked) and it sounds likely.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Best Buy confirms Xbox 360 Forza 2 and Marvel pack-in
By Ben Kuchera | Published: September 27, 2007 - 10:08AM CT

Score another one for the Mole. While we're still waiting for the $400 PlayStation 3 announcement, this morning Cheap Ass Gamer tipped us off to the fact that Best Buy has just now begun taking preorders on Pro and Elite systems featuring the Forza 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance software pack-in.

It's a good time to be a fence-sitter: now you get the system after a price drop with HDMI on the Pro systems and two free games. Not a bad deal. The games will each come on their own disc, but will share a case.

Our source's track record continues to strengthen; we'll keep slipping along what nuggets of wisdom they send our way. For those on the fence over the Xbox 360, does this give you more incentive to buy?

Nice! But talked about months ago as a rumor.

Either way, your getting 2 fantastic games.

Forza 2 is worth every dime as a full-price game, and even though I always despise tracking bundled game sales (in the fact they water down the meaning of a game selling well), atleast 2 great X360 games get the respect they deserve.

I own FM2, and am probably going to pick up M:UA at some point since it's a lovely 4p co-op game.

The X360 Arcade pack looks tasty. They really need to drop the price to $249 though.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

What ??? Fuzion Frenzy is super fun... well only the sumo and the jumping game were fun but I used to play those with buddies all the time, expecially the jumping game where you eather jump or duck and it starts going insanely fast... that was just fun. The rest of the games were pretty bad, the light racers clone was ok too but not that great.

The Core coming with a 256 MB memory card makes it worth buying.

Forza2 has been packed with the system since about 1 month after it came out. Adding one other game is no surprise.

Sounds great but I thought you could only bundle 1st party games!?

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

no , sony and nintendo bundle many 3rd party games.

nintendo sells packin of super street fighter 2 in the super nes, resident evil 4 in the gameube, etc, sony have tons of packins in the psone, and others in the ps2 like final fantasy XII packin in japan.
