Forums - Website Topics - vgchartz NEEDS to track online game sales!

I do not like how vgcharts is turning into gametrailers, with the videos and stuff, we have chartz in our name we need to focus on tracking game sales!

We have online psn, wiiware, and xbla games to be tracked.

We need to track comunity games as well.

There are full game downloads for ps3 that we do not track.

Soon every psp game will be online and we will only have less than half the psp data.

^^Same for the xbox 360, all games will be online as well.

Or if we wait i guess we wont track any games next generation because they will all be online only, o well

There is WiiWare and XBLA tracking, it just isn't as regular as the retail data.

As for Sony's downloadable games, I'm sure VGC would love to track it if they could get the data for it.

we need to start putting the data in for the xbla games, we already have the data, why wait for sony to give psn data???

also we know how much gt5p sold on psn so why dont we track it!

Games will not be online only next gen. Still alot of people with slow or no internet. Also, it's not easy tracking downloads from what I've read in about 20 other threads about the same topic.

^^ theres no excuss, if we wanted to track online games we would have done something by now in our database, we will never track them...

Brett needs to discuss this with Sony, nintendo, and microsoft, if he wants to be able to track Online games.

We are still a sales website at the core. We are still actively working on sales data features. Don't worry.

And we havent lost any features, so why does it bug you that we added video?

He is trying to say, that instead of working on a way to add site features, you should try to focus on getting the best data possible(which you already do according to you guys).

You clearly don't know what your talking about.  All there is right now for online downloads are what Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony release from what I understand and VgChartz is trying to track them better.

Edit:  Maybe you should find out the reason why VGChartz isn't tracking online purchases like you would like and then if you find their reason unacceptable make a thread complaining about it then instead of claiming that they are lazy.

ok, this is again the lame "omg vgchartz isn't focusing on sales" crap. ioi and co focus on sales, while talonman, ioi's brother, and others help with new features and the website redesign. While some new features pull a tiny bit of ioi's time away, he now does this full time and therefore can spend a little time on site upgrades while still spending more on sales than ever before.

Also, as others have pointed out, we do track online sales. If you asked the simple question of why they aren't in the database instead of claiming vgchartz is focusing on the wrong thing, you would have gotten the answer that at this moment we don't feel they are reliable enough to put in the game database. They are still working on refining the online tracking methods to make them better.

new features do not and have not taken away anything at all from the sales getting better.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
