Nintendo shouldn't do it, but Nintendo is finally giving Samus voice-work in Other M (and other characters had voices in MP3), so i don't know.

"HEY!" every few seconds was rather annoying.
I don't really have an opinion either way. I don't mind reading, and I wouldn't mind voice acting. But if it is decided that voice acting is added, I would want them to fo all the way - make Link talk too. And only 1 person knows the "right" way Link sounds - Miyamoto.
Voices should be optional. But they should be there. And they can be in a variety of languages -- including made-up ones. By the way, it should still have the words to read as well.
The first time that I played Mario Party 8, I thought that it was broken after the hat host spoke the first screen and then started to warble.

I am Mario.I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble. Wii Friend Code: 1624 6601 1126 1492 NNID: Mike_INTV |
who cares if they speak or not? I mean there's too many stupid people these days. They need to learn how to read. And yes, it kinda would ruin the charm of the game.
There is already voice acting in Zelda, and I love it.
Midna is the most prominent example, and KotRL, Ezlo, and (slightly) ganondorf. Other characters also make grunts and other noises, and that's great.
I however would not like the characters to speak any known language. Their grumblings are perfect, imo. The best example of this is Midna, or WW Ganondorf.

I much prefer this, too. One reason for this is that I've never heard any good voice acting in video games. Ever.
Okami
To lavish praise upon this title, the assumption of a common plateau between player and game must be made. I won't open my unworthy mouth.

thats true... i was surprised at the kind of people they hired to feature the DS (beyonce, nicole kidman, jamie lidell), but... celebrities dont always make the best voice actors (see kingdom hearts voice cast.)
about fucking time, it'll take the zelda franchise from the stone ages to the modern age where voice acting like zelda is a must....now I don't care is link him self speaks, hell he can be born mute for all I care...however there is no excuse to make the world around him alive with voice acting.
