Super Mario Galaxy is so far the only game this generation that has put a HUGE smile on my face that didn't go away until I stopped playing. I'd really like to see if the sequel can manage to feel as fresh.

Link? (I'm not doubting it). I suppose that is because the game is aimed more at us than the general market (indeed I think it is a direct reaction to E3 2008's reception; NSMB Wii is what Nintendo would like to be doing with Mario as part of their general market strategy). I'm not against it being harder, but when NSMB Wii ousells SMG2 by 5x Nintendo will see which route they should have taken. |
Reggie said it, and some different sources reported it.
Here's one: http://darkzero.co.uk/game-news/reggie-thinks-super-mario-galaxy-2-is-for-the-hardcore-gamer/
people always complain that SMG was easy, but i bet half of them did not manage to get 242 stars. Anyone telling me that they got Luigi's purple coins first time is just a lair. There were harder elemnts in SMG, that why it is a great game. i did not have any problmes with the smaller worlds either!

Great. Good news for me; I just don't think it'll sell well.

mothership ma..no ANY mario game not sell well? it's probably gonna sell a bazillion copies just like the first one did.
It was in either one of Miyamoto's or Reggie's interviews, they said the next Mario Galaxy would be one for the fans with harder levels etc.
I agree that NSMBWii will outsell Galaxy and Galaxy 2 though

really? i can't see that NSMBWii will top 8 million units, like SMG has just done.

I assure you - I have gathered 242 stars. I don't really think Luigi made the game harder per-se... Just different. Sure, there were a few stars that weren't easy, but overall the game was very easy.

are you serious? nsmbwii is gonna sell tens of millions of copies, just like it's ds counterpart is doing.

I think it will too. NSMB.Wii will sell crazy, especially since it will be a multiplayer and easier (really, my sisters ,for example, like 2D-scrolling games and find 3D games too hard) Mario. And I don't mention the fact it's called New Super Mario Bros, just like the first Mario almost everyone played and Ds's one which is a great success too.
