Uh oh, I dont think that either 1up or Buzzstudy provide an objective overview on what was the best game of the show. Buzzstudy is closer to reality, however, and that's why I posted it.
|
It's closer to reality how? The people from 1UP and Buzzstudy probably had hands-on with the games and got to play them. I'd say that's a good opportunity to form an opinion. And you claimed that "gamers" thought differently. But these were really just scans of various places on the internet. And whose to say they thought the games were good? You will find that Natal has the most buzz out of anything in that list, but for all we know, it could just be that 90% of the links are from people who think it looks awful. Let me quote the article itself:
"Oh, and bear this in mind: buzz is buzz. It doesn't differentiate between "good" and "bad", just how often something is discussed. After all, any publicity is good publicity, right?"
|
What are you trying to prove here? I said that neither source is objective, have you missed that part?
What we have here is opinion of five "professional" editors vs. compilation of various internet articles gathered by Buzzstudy. Neither is objective. But out of the two, Buzzstudy is closer to reality.
|
Okay, but I will quote you. "It seems like gamers have a different opinion." If you don't like me sticking to that quote, you should never have said it. The main difference between the two is that the editors actually gave opinions, either thinking something is good or bad. These random collections of articles could have a variety of opinions, and only show how often something was mentioned. If Buzzstudy scans a number of sites and figures out which part of E3 got the most positive reactions (even by total number), then I'll be impressed.
|
Do you really want to continue discussing this meaningless topic? Duh ..
Sure Buzzstudy counts all kinds of opinions. But let's say there is one hundred (I am being conservative here) of blogs and articles on God of War 3 E3 showing. Let's say 90% of them are negative (that is impossible, but whatever) but 10 are positive. That already makes it 10 people vs 5 people (editors of 1up). Obviously, the majority rules, so I say Buzzstudy is closer to being objective.

Actually you're arguing populist means better then. Personally I'm of the view for games, films, etc. that populist doesn't always mean best.
The whole things just the usual bit of fun anyway - mainstream sites/mags pick what title for them seemed the best on the avilable evidence, just as various mainstream sites/mags pick their favourites from film festivals. In theory as the people picking are supposed to know the medium better their view is normally deemed interesting and to have some weight vs the average joe.
Both are subjective but to be fair the list you provided isn't just games its everything, and includes all views whether supposedly informed or not - i.e. its the populist/buzz view vs supposed experts, and therefore I'd say less relevant to the idea of game of show than the 1Up choice.
In the end it matters little anyway - we all make our own decisions based on our personal preferences. For example I thought Uncharted 2 also looked like best title shown, until the Last Guardian trailer. Now Last Guardian is the game I was most impressed by, closerly followed by Uncharted 2 - but that's just my tastes. I can easily see Mass Effect 2 (looking great BTW), FFIII, God of War 3, etc. seeming the best for others and even understand on what basis.
