Forums - General - So i fell asleep at my Deans new academic year speech.

Pretty funny i must say, when i woke up the guy was waiting beside me all purple on the face shouting about young peoples behaviour nowadays. Don't know why but the guy almost exploded when i offered him a mentos  <yuk yuk>.

Oh, so that you guys won't get the wrong idea, i'm an old aquaintance of his....I just love to bug him :D.

Am i a bad guy for being so mean to him ?

Hehehe, nice. First speeches of the year are always terribly boring...

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Did you actually have Mentos on hand? Then that would be hilarious.

End of year, 8AM intro classes, and graduation speeches are always worse.

In my intro CS class way back when at 8AM I sat in the back row thinking I would be ignored and could just stay awake but more or less just doodle on my paper. Every time I sat back I could feel my head drift forward and start falling asleep so I would snap my head back to kind of jolt myself up (which I'm sure the professor noticed). At one point I was leaning back in my chair and had it leaned against the back wall. My head started drifting forward so I snapped my head back and slammed it on the back wall. It didn't hurt but it was insane loud and the whole class and professor stopped to just kind of stare at me for a moment.

I never sat in the back in that room again. >_>

That's not as bad as the one time in high school I would gradually fall asleep in my AP Government class. The one time, I was slowly drifting away, when I apparently made a fairly loud "AUGH!" when I snapped back awake. I barely heard myself...but I knew it was loud because everyone was staring at me hehe. I never talk in my sleep...according to others...so I guess it was just an involuntary yell as I awoke haha.

I never actually fell asleep in high school, but after some long nights stay up until 3-4 am, I would often put my head down on my desk and shut my eyes. The teachers would then ask questions and call on me by name, and I'd pop right up and answer them. I still paid attention. :)

I did fall asleep once in college, though, in a Survey of Music class. Little or no sleep the night before + dimly lit room + classical music = sleep. When I woke up, I knew where I was, but for some reason I didn't recognize anyone. There was a different professor on stage, and the slides on the projector seemed to have nothing to do with what we were studying. It took me several minutes to realize that it was ONE-thirty pm, not TWELVE-thirty pm, and a new class had started in the same room.

Yes i actually had a mentos freshmaker on me during the speach.

To top it off, i changed my study branch from management and marketing to "space economics" ( can't properly translate it, it's about managing terrains for future constructions i.e. now we have a simple field with flowers, in the future there will be roads, malls etc). So basically i started all over and joined a branch with people much younger than me. Thing is, i'm a shortie, so i don't look old at all. When i came to my deans speach everyone was a) nervous b)young&naive c)wearing formal clothing.

I on the other hand was the only guy that was wearing jeans, a t-shirt, a sweater and an ipod shuffle clutched onto my clothing. The kids went berserk when they saw me, kept going that i'll get punished, thrown out blah blah blah. The more they said the louder i kept laughing to myself.

When i was in highschool. I took up a habit of sleeping during the last period nearly every day for entire semester.
Probably due to late night gaming sessions.

My seat was at the first row of tables.
I wonder why I never got in trouble for that.

That was either Calculus/Finite math class, can't remember which.
