Uh...huh.
Hey if he doesn't like videogames, that's cool. Everybody has their own tastes.
But that they don't help humanity....uhm, why they should? Videogames are entertainment, nor art nor comunication nor college books. Just entertainment like TV, fantasy/horror/mystery books and blockbuster movies.
Nothing more and nothing else.
But I guess that if he started college at 8 and he will graduate at 11 then I guess that he hasn't had the time to properly play one and enjoy it and realize that his brain won't be poop by playing a game. Besides he can always play Brain age or wii fit .
Videogames are not dee devul. There are just games.
But whatever. Kuddos for your grad, dude.

LOL. Final Fantasy series is where I learned roman numerals.
"Clearly he's never played a Grand Theft Auto game. What better way to help humanity than using the game as education for what not to do to hookers with speeding vehicles? That's a lesson in humanity you can take right to the bank."
lol the this paragraph in the article is full of win.
but OT: entertainment>knowledge for most ppl but this kids the other way around, so his opinion differs from most of humanity.

I'll use a lightsabar to shut him up

I learned reading from video games so he can go suck it.
Video games in a way have helped me appreciate literature in a way. I play plenty of video games even though I could be spending that time writing a book but that would mean giving up anime and manga as well as well as anything else that is enjoyable.
Hey child genius, what does it feel like to have no friends?
Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.
While it is impressive for a child of his age to be able to be successful at a post secondary institution, getting an Associates degree from a community college in "Liberal Studies" (even at 11 years old) doesn't make you genius material ... I could be wrong, but I expect that "Liberal Studies" is just another word for "General Studies" which is (essentially) a degree in easy options; and at most community colleges the easy options are at a difficulty level where a good grade 9 student who put in the work could get a fairly decent grade.
Although I have no evidence for this, I wouldn't be that surprised if this boy is at the extreme end of the scale for parents pushing their child in one direction (in this case education) at the expense of all other pursuits, and his lack of interest in videogames is a symptom of a very poorly balanced child. If you took a legitimately smart child (smart enough to skip a grade or two) and pushed them into it you could probably get them to achieve a similar goal at a similar age ... Unfortunately, there is far more to life than academic achievement and when this boy realizes that it could be far too late.
