It's confirmed: Epic doesn't care much about the PS3 version.

Not all the maps will be included in the PS3 version (allegedly because the PS3 doesn't have enough power for them), and now this.

No way the PS3 users would stand a chance against PC players though... For starters, PC = keyboard and mouse.

 It's confirmed:  Thank Epic for even bringing Unreal 3 to the PS3 and 360.  The fact that you're missing maps is because the PS3 can't handle a few of the maps.  That's not that bad...you've still got plenty of maps to play and plenty of custom maps I'm sure.

Wow I figured you for someone looking forward to playing against the PS3 crowd.  I certainly was looking forward to it. And while I agree the volume of PC gamers will far outweight the PS3 gamers, I have to think it will be a lot more than a few thousand.  Even two years ago it was hard to find online games in UT2k4 if you had a specific format you wanted to play (CTF, Assault, etc).  So while the PS3 group might be smaller it still fills in the spots when you have maps where it really isn't any fun to play unless you have 10 on 10 games etc... 

I guess my point is this: What is better? Having the option to play with PS3 players or not even getting the choice?  Even if someone doesn't want to play x-platform, everyone else getting the option doesn't effect the person.  So I do see it as a feature lost for both versions for that reason alone.  

I think how big of a deal the feature is is just a matter of opinion and really there isn't any point in debating it since you will (and should) feel how want and I should(and will) do the same

But I would definitely agree that in the early life of the game especially, with ten or twenty thousand PS3 gamers missing, it isn't going to be felt that much.  But in the later stages when things wind down it would be very nice to have that option.

I agree that it doesn't make or break the game for the PC or PS3...in the beginning.  But come later on, say 2 years down the road if the PS3 is locked in to only play other PS3 players your choices are going to be pretty limited.  There are always certain types of games that are more popular than others and it makes it hard for folks who don't like the games everyone else does to find a good server to play on and enjoy the game the way they want to enjoy the game.

I really don't think it should effect your purchase.  Particularly if you had planned to not use the feature.  But I think they need to make sure it is known so that people don't buy the game expecting the feature and not get it.  

As far as less players being bad, I will say the same thing I told Ben.  Having the choice is better than not having that choice.  And in that regard it is still a feature that is now lost.  I personally would have enjoyed it quite a bit and think it would have been a lot of fun.  I think you will see some pretty amazing players on the PS3 who use the SIXAXIS controller and become very proficient with it.  But a lot of people will use the mouse and would have been on a level playing field.

In the end, how big of a deal it is depends on your preferences.

I never said I didn't want the option...I just felt that it didn't matter to me much anyway. I don't hate PS3 gamers...and I don't think they'd do THAT bad with analog sticks, but it doesn't really matter to me much at all. There's plenty of PC gamers to play with, and there is the fact that we're all at the same advantage/disadvantage on one platform.

I don't think people are mocking Sony supporters so much as the rabid fanboys who really really push the envelope when it comes to saying some outlandish stuff. But if you want to have extremists views you have to expect extremists treatment to some extent, right? I'm not saying liking the PS3 is extreme, but liking the PS3 to the point that you declare "Sony the god of gaming and all competitors meaningless pawns to be trampled on the road to victory" well then you probably should get your flame proof suit refitted on any site you might want to visit.

For instance I don't really have a problem with you. Most of my issues with you stem from your age and occasional lack of maturity (being blunt and honest here). But I don't hold that against because...well you're acting your age..it would be silly for me to expect otherwise and I'm sure I was the same way....or worse

Yeah sounds like we don't really disagree overall. I definitely understand that some folks weren't excited over the feature.

I think you were just trying to clarify but just in case I wanted to say I don't think you hate PS3 gamers and I hope I didn't give the impression that you thought they would suck with analog sticks. But like I said I think you were just trying to clarify.

Just wish they would hurry up and release the game already. I have been looking forward to a spiffy map editor to toy with for a while now =) And as long as that feature stays in (and it will) I will be more than happy spending the money on the game.

Shouldn't unreal tournament had just stayed on the Xbox where wall the FPS gamers are?

The Xbox360 is delayed because there are some with the Xboxlive security and the mod access.

 Huh?  UT3 is PC game through and through, just because the weekend college FPS players who think they are good at shoot'em'up play on the 360 doesn't change the fact that the extremely hardcore "play till your index finger bleeds and your 'WASD' keys melt" players still play on the PC.

So ya it couldn't"stay" on the 360 because its "from" the PC

And amusingly, I'm not really in that hardcore group..I enjoy the games but I enjoy the modding/mapping even more...and my index finger isn't bleeding...and I haven't had to replace any keyboards yet
