I was wondering aren't those guys in Eight Days agents? Too me that game has a little GTA vibe. Sony (London) and Rockstar North working together? Isn't blending clips with gameplay genre define-ing?

Just a thought.

Eight Days was definitely not a counter-intelligence thriller set in the 70s.

It was/would have been like Uncharted, but with more focus on chases & guns.

Men I was so pissed when I hear they canceled eight days.

im glad at least some 3rd party can understand that exclusivity does help increase the quality of the game

You know people, sometimes there ARE better incentives then deniro to do something. MGS4 was exclusive to PS3 for the Idea of utilizing the PS3's power alone. Kojima KEPT it exclusive for this reason and for good will alone.

Now I know we have seen quite a few times now exclusivity become engulfed by the mighty dollar and in turn go MP. Yet MGS4 has proven a possibility for the alternative for 3rd parties.

And exclusive games get more media buzz anyway.

And why does that only apply to the Playstation consoles??

it doesn't. Gears of War much(although MS might have thrown in some added security because they are....you know.....MS...)

And THAT is exactly what I mean.  I believe that Sony paid Rockstar, and that belief has just as much proof as your statement.  It is inconceivable to some that companies may make an exclusive for the 360 for anything other than money.

Larger userbase?  Friendlier development platform?  More PC-like architechture?  Most of the power without most of the pain?  Nah... it must be about money.

Then people wonder why there is such backlash!  If I were a 360 fan, I would be laughing about/ tearing this apart too.  Money-hatting happens on all sides (well, probably not Nintendo, looking at 3rd party output).  Only a fool would believe otherwise.

I would like to refer you to my "bidding war" argument. I do not completely dismiss the idea that Sony could possibly be doing the old moneyhat routine to nab this as exclusive but I highly doubt it. As I stated before, Sony cannot, repeat, CANNOT win in a bidding war against MS. If sony was paying R* for exclusivity, I assure you, MS would double the deal and have it too on their system. MS has already proven to want any 3rd party game that has ever been tied to the Sony name. This is R* after all, anything they do is big. Why would MS just decide to pass this up? Truth of the matter is, they wouldn't. Unfortunately for them, this is not an issue of money, but an entirely different agenda at hand.

And this goes for big 3rd party games such as MGS4 as well. We know MS wants it, if it were about money, they would already have it by now. If Sony was moneyhatting they would not have lost FFXIII, DMC4, AC, GTA4, etc exclusivity. That would be the only purpose of moneyhatting in the first place, securing the exclusive(or in MS's case, getting companies to break exclusivity).

@CGI

surely you can see the plausability of the above.

In a strict bidding situation that MAY be true.  However there are mitigating factors.  1.  MS cannot buy everything that shows promise - even if they have the funds, that doesn't mean it is a wise choice.  2.  The thing about bidding is that something is only worth what you can get somebody to pay at the time of selling (years of e-bay here).  Perhaps MS bid what they thought was fair - for an unproven franchise - and Sony topped it.

As for "if Sony was moneyhatting", again perhaps they tried but the economics (and I don't mean MS moneyhats) were too convincing.  I know that, if I were a developer and I was making a game that COULD BE DONE on both consoles that I would put it on BOTH unless I were offered "incentive" not too - aka a moneyhat.  That scenario only affects GRANTING exclusivity, otherwise, sure I would do it on both.   As for MS gaining former PS exclusives as multiplat, moneyhats are not really needed for that these days, it's simple economics.  "If it can be done without compromising the vision, then why not," will (and should) be the prevailing opinion.

For example...

DMC4 = can be easily done on the 360 which has a huge following in US = obvious decision to multiplat = no moneyhat needed

Gears of War = can be easily done on PS3 BUT MS offers money hat incentive that Epic sees as superior to multiplat sales = exclusive

Now, not all games can be EASILY done on X360 - such as - perhaps - MGS4 because it was written from the ground up for Blu-Ray and PS3.  Can it be done?  Sure, probably.  Will it - doubtful.

Before anyone says, what about FFXIII, well, I think we all know that SE was working on it LONG before it was announced.

EDITED due to an errant and confusing paragraph placement, and thanks to CGI for the kind words.

cant wait to hear more about this title...

if it's as good as T2 and R* are saying... we should be in for a great game

Usually you would hype the game up until about 1 month before release, then announce that its multi-plat and bathe in the free publicity.

*Not that its what I think will happen*

At that point, fanboys of the system the game was on, suddenly stop saying that the game is "THE BEST GAME EVA!" to either ignoring it completely or saying it will suck, OR will end up pitching the Vs version of the game as "THE BEST GAME EVA!"

Sony gave up GTA timed exclusive for this one. Yeah it might come to the 360 or more likely, the 720. A lot of wheeling and dealing went on behind the scenes this generation, a lot of it happened before either a PS3 or 360 had ever been sold. For the beginning of this generation you saw a lot of Microsoft "stealing" from the PS brand. When you see Agent exclusive on PS3 you realise, that it's not Sony who is still playing catchup. It's Microsoft. With dying tech at a bargain bin prices Microsoft's console experiment is running out of gas.

Your bias really shines through. Microsoft is playing catching up while Sony continues to lose money and is in the process of restructuring itself?

Yes, your post makes so much sense that it makes none at all.

It's amazing the gains the Xbox has made on the Playstation brand considering the scenario last generation.

Microsoft's little console experiment seems to have the Playstation 3 in third place.

I'm not a fanboy, I just try to tip the balance in favor of logic and common sense.
