ok, so you use your finger to shoot. What about run, duck, dodge, change weapons, reload, etc, etc.

Running/walking in place is not feasible.
Voicing all commands is not feasible.

So realistically how would you overcome this?

RAIL SHOOTERS!!

but seriously...I don't know. x.o It seems to be able to scan and identify you but I don't think it can follow you completely yet.

That's the problem I have with both MS and Sony motion. No nunchuk like add on. Granted, they have plenty of time to solve it, but it will undoubtly use a nunchuk type of add on or in MS case maybe just the actual controller. But, then what's the gain?

Realistically Natal is limited in its use for core games. Not saying there isn't plenty of room for inovation on new casual expanded games and a few of existing genres, but greater majority of core games (as the ones OP listed) are not feasible with this.

I didn't see Sony's motion controller up close so I can't tell if it has an analog stick, but according to the patent they registered last summer the final product could definitely have one :

Regarding Natal I don't see how it would be possible to play a FPS with it... do you walk on spot to make your character move ? In case of ennemies attacking from the sides or from behind do you have to shout commands like "left" "right" "behind" each time you want the camera to pan ? And how do you play plateformer ? Could it be even remotely possible ?

I am a Wii owner and I am scratching my head at this thread.

Keep the 360 alive as Microsoft's secondary console until 2015, sure.
Satisfy all 360 gamers for six more years while some pretty substantial gains in hardware are made, no.

I do not agree.  I for one would love to still get first run content on my 7-10 year old consoles... I don't want to buy another $300-400 console, I would rather buy 6-8 good games.

Additionally, the graphical and technological leap just won't be there in another 18 monthsProgrammers aren't maxing out the potential of any these three consoles yet (in means of input or output).

Bolded I don't understand. If you mean when it is released, then you are probably right, but we are talking years beyond that.

As for the italics: you are probably right, but in a few (2-3) years that might not be the case.

For the bold, I am using the time frame of 5 years.  If not 2015, when? 2009 would be 4 years (like the original Xbox).

As for the italics, yes.

I would really like them to hit that graphical threshold in 2-3 years and then focus on being creative.  I would really like to see something replace QTE.  I would really like to see some originally themed shoots, with bold level design and innovative playmodes.

In 2-3 years the tools/SDKs will be better, so we may see some really innovative stuff come from smaller studios...

If a new console is released in 2012, then we start all over again with pumping out prettier browns and greys.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

For ideas on what the Natal can do here is a thread I made, and it basically creates a new genre of games, the virtual reality in a small space genre.

How exactly are you planning to shoot with a camera?

They were thinking of Natal years ago. Just look at this early footage
