Colors for one need to be unique so you have to go with colors that are easily separated. Xbox 360 logo has greys and green.
Nintendo Wii uses Whites, Grey, and Blues Playstation 3 uses blacks, whites, silver, greys. Nothing that really stands out. However, take a look at most big sites like IGN and they also use Red for Sony. So, by commonality, red it is. btw, IGN and others also use Green for 360 and Blue for Wii. Also, your mom told me. ;) |
Sorry chunky...had to go home from work.
Firstly I never said there is anything wrong with xbox color.
Your logic is fine...if you have a bran fart and forget to consider that this is not "Xbox 360", "PS3" and "Wii" forums we have.
Its nintendo, Sony and Microsoft. So just because wii has blue highlights and PS3 has gazillion colors, doesnt mean its what the company colors are. Nintendo, snes, n64, DS, GC, Wii and PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP all fall under these categories and frankly they all used different colors.
The only true method of labelling these companies is with their company brand logo colors for consoles. Xbox is green, nintendo console family is now gray and Sony's is black or white.
Frankly the best thing you had in your post chunky was the mom joke, which is kinda sad considering how old those are.
@disolitude
lol.
Yeah, thinking about it as purely company logos since the forums and such are based on company not necessarily the cur gen products, then you are right. However, since the site is primarily focused on the charting of current gen consoles, then using that as the foundation for color choices still makes the green and blue the best choices.
I mean you just can't use black/grey/white as they are too common and used for text/backgrounds.
Thus red/green/blue also being primary colors makes the most sense.

I never said there was much logic in my thread for how this site is setup
I am a purist and demand proper color labels...even if I cant read the text :)
Well maybe if Sega was a decent company it would get it's own company. But oh wait they only ever had one successful console, the Genesis.
Geez why do people love Sega so much, even its best console the Genesis lost the console war to the SNES.
Then I won't even mention what happened when Sony came to play.
Also isn't the wii going for the blue ocean market or something like that
hence its BLUE
PS3's as cool as darth vader who has a red lightsaber hence RED
Xbox 360's got a green logo....hence green

whoa whoa...easy there. Did sega hit you when you were a child or something? So much hate...
If financially success defines how good a company or a product is in your eyes then Halo > Killzone anything, Xbox 360 > PS3 and Wii fit > any other game ever made.
And Dreamcast was easily a better gaming console than PS2 before it got discontinued...

Again...forums say Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo...not Wii, PS3 and 360...
@disolitude
& the website is vg chartz, hence to do with videogames.
