I figured I'd make one comprehensive thread with all the GT5 info we've gotten out of E3, rather than having it span 4-5 threads in which people are all confused about what's what.
We'll start off with the latest trailer:
The trailer confirms WRC, NASCAR, and damage. You can download it in pristine 720p from Gamersyde.
Now on to release dates. According to an interview with an exec from SCE Canada, they're targeting a release this calendar year:
[...]
Sony showcased several other exclusives as well, including Uncharted 2, MAG, Gran Turismo 5, and others. Is Sony looking at a blockbuster holiday line-up?
The holiday line-up this year looks great.
For me it starts with Uncharted 2. I had a chance to play three-on-three co-op in an internal demo, and I was blown away. That’s probably the number one pick for me.
But there’s also MAG, and Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time coming this holiday as well.
As for Gran Turismo 5, we haven’t released an official date, but we’re trying to get that out this calendar year, so it could be a holiday game as well.
According to Yamauchi himself, the game is already so far along that it cold be released as a complete package now, btu they're still polishing away:
And on top of all that, they hope to have some interoperability between both the PS3 and PSP versions of Gran Turismo:
Kazunori Yamauchi: First off, for the PSP version we're not thinking of any downloadable content. And as for the link with GT5, we're hoping maybe to make it so you can share the garage with the PSP version so that cars you unlock on PSP will be available immediately on GT5.
Also, why GT Mobile (and assumedly GT5) have taken so dern long to develop:
Kazunori Yamauchi: We first made the announcement in E3 of 2004, so [laughs] it's been five years. Since then we've released GT4, Tourist Trophy, GTHD and GT5 Prologue. Of course we were always working on the PSP version a little bit at a time, but every time we have one of those releases it's affected by that new title. So this is a software that was born in between GT5 Prologue and GT5, and it's affected by both of those titles.
People don't realize that Polyphony Digital has always had a lot on their table. Whether it was Tourist Trophy that released in early 2006, or the free GTHD (which was really just GT4 in HD, with higher polygon cars and a new HUD) released alongside the ps3 at the end of 2006, they've always been hard at work on something. In reality, the game has only been in full development ~3 years, while the team was simultaneously working on GT Mobile, which includes over 800 cars.
So yeah, that about sums up all the news about GT5 we've recieved from E3 so far.
