Forums - Sony - E3: Yamauchi: We could release GT5 now

There isn't a GT on PSP. This will be the first release on PSP.

gt5 is over due, by now we should be seeing gt6 at e3 not gt5, gt5 was news back in 2005, we should have been playing it in 2007 but nope, its not even coming this year well maybe it might but early 2010 is more likely. and no, i don't think any game should take FIVE YEARS in the making. that's ridiculous.

Why not? It has way more cars then Forza. Even the PSPGo version has twice as many cars. Why shouldnt it take twice as long? Especially with the studio also working on 2 versions.

forza 3 didnt take 5 years to make and look the game looks just as nice and offers more gaming fun. i think gt5 should have been out at this e3 and rack up sales before forza 3 launches in october.

Show me a Forza title with 800+ cars, Nascar automobiles, Nascar tracks, WSR, various other real life tracks, etc. all while being the most respected amongst car enthusiasts and motor companies around the world and then we can talk about how long something should take.

All I see is half the content in half the time. GT5 is just fine.

*note* Not saying Forza 3 will be a bad game, reviewers and such prove it is a quality title but it wouldn't matter if GT5 launched before, during or after Forza, it will sell better. It is the most respected for a reason. Car makers ask for their cars to be added in for a reason. Magazines, websites, etc... advertise it and praise it for a reason. PD is considered perfectionists in the racing sim genre for a reason.

if it will sell better regardless when than why not put it out right now, its gonna "sell better" anyway right, lol.

Simple. The answer is reputation.

PD can not afford to just dump a game out on the market without it being as perfect as they can possibly make it. These games are not only about the sales but more about keeping things in line with not only what PD and Sony wants but what the auto manufacturers want. You do understand that there is a very good reason why the auto manufacturers ask for their cars to be included instead of PD having to dish out cash right?

A good example is the damage in previous GT games. You think they didn't have damage because they didn't want it? No, it is because high end companies like Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc... would not allow it. When you let a developer use your cars free or charge you have a lot of say in what can and can not be done in the game.

You need a bit to learn before you say what PD should or shouldn't do. You obviously do not understand what Gran Turismo is exactly.

what they should do is release the game, no one ask for a pspgo version, i mean isnt there a version on the psp already? i think they care more about maximzing the sales than actually releaseing it for us.

Im sure the Psp version will sell VERY well. Im sure many people asked for it... and I dont know of any PSP version as of right now.

It is a PSP version, not just PSPGo.

As I said before and gave an extremely thought out response that explains it in detail, they can't just release it. When you are considered to the be the best of the best you have to ensure that you release the best. Anything less is sort of a failure.

Not sure if you watch Baseball but the Yankees are the greatest team all-time, most successful in the world of sports I believe. 26 championships overall and up until last year 12 straight playoff runs. When they did not make it last year it was a big blow to the team. People now expect the best from them and if they do not deliver the best and come home with a championship all else is considered a big fat failure, regardless of how good they did during the rest of the year.

GT is now this way. If they release the game just to get sales and not to put the best team on the field and bring home that title of "The Best" it will be quite a big blow to the series.

Their reputation is on the line evertime they release a game.

you know what, i cant say. gt5 may or may not sell better because if you put out a great game to compete with another great game like forza 3 something un expected could occur. its been five years so its going to be interesting to see how gt5 does in term of sales and in terms of how well someone can make a quality game in five years compared to forza 3. this i cant wait to see.

Until Forza gets the worldwide respect from all auto manufacturers, care lovers, car magazined, car TV programs, etc... and auto makers ask for their cars to be included in the game I do not think Forza will compete.

That is like saying the next Killzone will possibly outsell Halo.

It has worldwide brand recognition, just like Halo. That is why it sells so great. As well as the tip top quality and love that goes into it.

You also realize you are saying 4M seller will sell on par or possibly better than a 10M+ seller right? Not to mention the former sold under 2M before being massively bundled with every 360 for the Holidays. Forza is still trying to build up. Gran Turismo is the current king of the mountain.

You also seem to be underestimatnig the inclusion of 2x the amount of cars, real life tracks, Nascar, etc...

Care to make a sig/avatar bet with me in terms of Forza 2 vs. GT5 sales?

well there are 30.4 million 360's out there, i can say that there is a greater purchasing power on the 360 side than there is on the ps3. this is what i mean by un expected occurance. will i take the bet? sure why not, what happens afterwards, lol hopefully nothing too serious.

Plenty of multiplatform games have proven that the gap doesn't always mean the sales will favor the 360.

but isnt it true that most of the 360 versions sold more compared to the ps3 versions?

Just sig/avatar control for 1 month. Just write "Bet with Euphoria14: Forza 3 will sell on par and/or outsell GT5" and put a link to the post where we agree on the bet. Of course we need to come up with a time table, like launch week sales, first month sales, etc... We will be putting this in our signatures.

yea i understand, accordingly to logics a brand name will sell better than a brand that still in its early faze etc, but microsfot ususally helps market their games, i think if they made all 30.4 million consoles holders aware of forza 3, maybe a good 10 million of them will go out and get the game. i think we can say there will be variables that will ultimately decide what will and will not sell very well or very not well.

this post euphoria failed from the start on so many levels you know?

GT Mobile(and every other GT game) - 800cars from which there will be maybe 150 original cars rest of them are copies of those cars with different stats, but pretty much te same body(different colours, stamps and so on though) something like cars in Ridge Racer. in GT4 you had more than 60 skylines.

Forza 3 - 400 different cars that you can tune both visual, engine and suspension, instal different car and engine parts, tweak pretty much every part of them and so on.

Forza and GT were always typical track racing games and while Forza kept that and Turn10 is trying to keep moving forward and be better at it PD didn't do anything. GT1-4 were pretty much the same game with better graphics and now(i'm guessing) since they have competition
that just outperformed everything they've done to date they are going to add things that don't fit there only to write on the box that they have definitive racer cause they have offroad and nascar racing. if i want offroad racer i will buy Dirt 2 and if i want Nascar game i will buy one of the Nascar racing games cause they will certainly be deeper and better than GT in that department.

GT series was most "respected" because for a very long time it was the only racing sim on consoles and that respect is only a PR bullshit cause right now i can put here a link to official forza site when audi just done the same thing bout Forza 3.

if you think PD are perfectionists you should look what Turn 10 and Audi engineers done in Forza 3 on it's official site - they are pretty much years ahead with the features they implemented in this game(like tire deformation that have influence on handling and driving in Forza 3).

i'm not saying GT5 will be bad - it's just the fact that PD are trying to put in their game everything they see with half-assed attempt.
