Forums - Nintendo - after 2 and 1/2 years, why all the Wii hate still?

people cant handle that its got some fun games, some useful games, and some interesting and unique games, with older graphics. it still looks good on my giant samsung hd. im playing ocarina of time for the first time on it, cus vc allows me to play games from back in the day that i missed.

yeh theres shit games, but theres a ton of shit on 360 too. ps3 also. but with wii they sell good, so they get shelf space too.

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

As a Nintendo fanboy, it really makes me angry.

Problem identified.

Solution:  Become a fan of games, not companies.

He is a fan of games, it's not his fault that a lot of really good ones come from Nintendo.

Seriously though the great thing about this gen is even though the HD fanboys and even some narrow minded game developers hate the Wii with a passion it is still outselling the HD twins and raking in profit and sales at record rate. I can think of 10+ games I want to buy for my Wii I just don't have the money and i'm sure the OP is in the same boat - so to the OP, why does it matter if people hate the Wii? they're not hurting you and you still get to play some great games because unfortunately for them more people agree with you (the sales reflect that).

Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.

One down, hopefully more awesomeness to come.

Because Nintendo never produces any new IP

Because Nintendo is abandoning its old franchises

Because of teh waggle

Because its waggle is not as good as other console's waggle

First off, don't argue it- the Wii really doesn't have tons of great games like the 360 and PS3. As a Nintendo fanboy, it really makes me angry. When I walk into GameStop, Best Buy, etc, it really pisses me off to see 90% of the stuff is shovelware and crap.
Firstly, let me just answer to the bolded area. As a fellow Nintendo fan like you, i must disagree to an extent with what you just said there. No, i am not going to jump up and say the Wii has just as many killer AAA titles as the PS3 and X360, because i really cannot say that it does. However, it does have a giant, yes, i used the word giant, number of good, fun games in it's library, that are worth buying, or at least worth renting or trying out. Part of the problem is that nobody even bothers to look for them, i could sit here for ages naming good games for the Wii.
Haters don't want to look for games that they could possibly enjoy. They just see the shovelware and spit at it. When a good game does show up, all they do is look at the cons and use whatever bad things they've read around the net as a building block as to why the game is actually bad and not worth buying.

Secondly. This hatred toward the Wii and DS consoles will not stop, it just wont, and it is because the company's name is Nintendo. The fact that both consoles are underpowered is a big spot to poke at, but of course the main reason for the Wii's assault are the motion controls. A lot of people have not even given it a proper chance, and wright it off as some useless gimmick. While its not perfect, its better than people actually give it credit for, and some haters seem to forget that, hi, the Wii has support for Classic/Gamecube controller as well.
A lot of these haters also like to believe that because their games run on superior hardware, somehow it is automatically of higher quality and just plain better. Heavens knows how this works out, but its logic to them. They also love to throw around how Nintendo simply "milks" and "rehashes" their franchises, yet they jump for joy when a sequel to Final Fantasy or whatever their favorite franchise is gets announced.
It really matters not what Nintendo does. They will be hated, always. Hell, even some people in this very thread are spouting mindless bullshit.

You wanna know the reason? It's not easy to create a great games using motion control.
Got news for you buddy, the Wii isn't reliant on motion control. Its just a feature.

I started to hate it since I had to change batterys on 2 days, it looked crappy on my Hd-tv
Wow. Just wow... ladies and gentleman, i give you the so called "average" gamer.

I may come off as an asshole for saying this, but i'm really in an angry, venting mood. It really is jaw dropping how such dense people can even turn on a console, let alone develop fair, unbiased opinions on specific aspects of the gaming world. Especially when it's involving the games themselves.

Thirdly. I don't know how some of these people were raised, i really don't. Everyone has their own taste, style, thoughts. Not everyone is going to like what you like. Obviously. But what i really, to this day, still do not understand is why some people feel the need to scream and shout it to the world. Ok, we get it, you don't like Mario, or Zelda, or upcoming Wii game for whatever reason, fair enough, i'm not going to judge you for it. So why must you come to every thread, every discussion, and repeat this. What's the matter with you? Do you want attention that bad? Or are you really just a twat?

I'm probably wrong about this, but i'm going to speak from experience here. Nintendo fans are some of the most rational, open minded, smart, calm and cool people i have ever met, spoke to, and befriended. They're usually very kind, bright and down to earth. Now i'm not saying they're all like this, but Sony (and to a lesser extent, Microsoft) fans on the other hand are usually cold, harsh, rude, on a lot of occasions stupid, and just plain ignorant. Again, i stress that most Sony fans are not like this, i'm probably not looking hard enough for the good ones. But this is the general gist i have gotten from my time spent on gaming sites and those i have met in real life too. If you don't like Nintendo or Microsoft or whatever, that's fine. If you want to hate things for mostly no reason at all, IE "Mario has no story so its crap!!" then you're a twat. Why, i ask why you feel the need to constantly, CONSTANTLY shout to the stars how much you hate it, why must you target every thread and say the same things over and over again. You call yourself a gamer? Instead of being an ignorant fool, ignoring facts most of the time and screaming lie after lie, how about you actually play your games. There are a lot of great games out there, so go play them, instead of moaning about the ones you don't like. Or are you that much of a loser? Jesus titty fucking mother of chicken christ. It really is a wonder how some people actually make it out of their bed in the morning.

EDIT: Oh, and Phoenix. You are not a Nintendo "fanboy". You are simply an avid fan of Nintendo. You are aware of the Wii's problems and do not blindly cite it as a superior overall machine to the PS3 and X360. Simply owning a Wii or Nintendo consoles and having a taste for Nintendo games does not make you a "fanboy".

If you are a fanboy, you automatically only like one console, you hate the other two for no rational reason and you make this as clear as possible at every given oppertunity. That is a fanboy. You are not this ;)

im gonna assume its the temper getting the better of you, cause that was a narrow-minded paragraph right there. anyways, i have plenty of friends that can dispute what you just said there (except wii friends that think irrationally). seems like no one can resist brawl, eheheh.

other than that, pretty good post

The reason people dislike Nintendo is because they are catering WAY too much for the casual, concentrating on Wii Sports, Wii Fit, etc, Where's Zelda Wii? Golden Sun Wii? New IPs to cater to the hardcore? Why don't they get Retro to make something to cater to hardcore fans?

Now NSMB Wii looks cool and will sell tons, but it's a hardcore and casual title at the same time. From a business standpoint Nintendo is going after the money, and not the hardcore gamer, can't blame them, but people don't like that.

If Sony and MS start only doing EyePets, Eyetoys, Natal games, instead of harcore games, you'll see people really pissed off at them as well, I'll be the first.

Im 99% sure that filabrasileeiro's post is sarcasm.

I'm very much hoping it is

And no-one was asking for golden Sun Wii. People were ready to kill for Golden Sun DS. Looks like they wont have to

People seem to hate on what is popular.

Examples, GTAIV, Halo, and of course the Wii.

People will bitch and complain to just knock on something just to do it. Everyone knows the Wii. It's the most popular system this gen after all, people will hate and look for ways to hate on that fact. It's sad and dumb really.

Every system has great games to offer, people who make fun of the Wii are obviously not busy playing games on whatever system they own, so, saying that the Wii doesn't have great games to play is stupid.

It's funny though. They hate an inanimate object. It's like hating a rock. Sure you can hate the rock, but what about the guy that threw the rock. He is the culprit. But you can't hate Nintendo because they are a business, a business that makes money. You can't hate making money, because that would make you a hypocrite. Unless of course you genuinely hate money. In that case...what paid for your internet connection?

Hmm...I wonder.

I guess Metroid and SMG2 don't exist, either? Or Pikmin 3?

It's a start after they got so much (deserved) backlash for their Wii casual approach. Not enough, but it's a start nevertheless.
