Firstly, let me just answer to the bolded area. As a fellow Nintendo fan like you, i must disagree to an extent with what you just said there. No, i am not going to jump up and say the Wii has just as many killer AAA titles as the PS3 and X360, because i really cannot say that it does. However, it does have a giant, yes, i used the word giant, number of good, fun games in it's library, that are worth buying, or at least worth renting or trying out. Part of the problem is that nobody even bothers to look for them, i could sit here for ages naming good games for the Wii.
Haters don't want to look for games that they could possibly enjoy. They just see the shovelware and spit at it. When a good game does show up, all they do is look at the cons and use whatever bad things they've read around the net as a building block as to why the game is actually bad and not worth buying.

Secondly. This hatred toward the Wii and DS consoles will not stop, it just wont, and it is because the company's name is Nintendo. The fact that both consoles are underpowered is a big spot to poke at, but of course the main reason for the Wii's assault are the motion controls. A lot of people have not even given it a proper chance, and wright it off as some useless gimmick. While its not perfect, its better than people actually give it credit for, and some haters seem to forget that, hi, the Wii has support for Classic/Gamecube controller as well.
A lot of these haters also like to believe that because their games run on superior hardware, somehow it is automatically of higher quality and just plain better. Heavens knows how this works out, but its logic to them. They also love to throw around how Nintendo simply "milks" and "rehashes" their franchises, yet they jump for joy when a sequel to Final Fantasy or whatever their favorite franchise is gets announced.

Nintendo fans are some of the most rational, open minded, smart, calm and cool people i have ever met, spoke to, and befriended. They're usually very kind, bright and down to earth. Now i'm not saying they're all like this, but Sony (and to a lesser extent, Microsoft) fans on the other hand are usually cold, harsh, rude, on a lot of occasions stupid, and just plain ignorant. Again, i stress that most Sony fans are not like this, i'm probably not looking hard enough for the good ones. But this is the general gist i have gotten from my time spent on gaming sites and those i have met in real life too. If you don't like Nintendo or Microsoft or whatever, that's fine. If you want to hate things for mostly no reason at all, IE "Mario has no story so its crap!!" then you're a twat. Why, i ask why you feel the need to constantly, CONSTANTLY shout to the stars how much you hate it, why must you target every thread and say the same things over and over again. this post is excellent. i agree wit everything you say here. i think teh other problem with sony and microsoft fanboys are that alot of the wii owners will never buy a ps3 or 360 cause of one reason and that is a computer. i spent back at the end of feburary 500 dollars and built me a gaming machine cheaply and now i can play modern warfare at max graphics with no lag and it looks way better then anything that the ps3 has. i put in madden o7 and maxed it out as well and guess what it looks as good or even better then madden 09 for teh ps3. so they will say oh but its not 1080p. actually it is i ahve 1080p on my graphics card and guess what 3 count them 3 HDMI ports to plug a HDTV into if need be and not only can i play amazing games on the pc. but i can also surf the net without paying twice for it ala xbox live, and neither do i have to worry bout getting a blue ray drive then teh machine dying on me cause guess what i can buy a blue ray drive for 100 dollars and what is even scarier i can buy a blue ray rewritable drive for 300 teh same price as a cheap ps3. you can ask any pc user what their alternative system is and they will tell you the majority of them will say nintendo wii. cause why buy the other two when you already have it in the pc.

ya, excellent post. I gotta agree with a lot of that- especially the bit about the personalities of different types of fans. my friends who are nintendo fans try to think about things rationally.

 

my friends, and especially me try to be VERY unbiased. though I don't personally like the games on the 360, I don't automatically go around calling them crap just because I don't like them. I HATE when people say something is garbage because they don't personally like it.

do I like hardcore grunge emo music? no. does it suck? no, i just don't like it. now, at the same time, i can love something that isn't the greatest. for example, i love the wii, despite its flaws, and at the same time i admit it has these flaws and don't go flashing it around as the best thing ever.

on the other hand, a ps3/360 fanboy friend of mine- he doesn't like wii games, so he calls them crap, garbage, etc. just because HE doesn't like them doesn't mean they're crap, and he doesn't understand that kind of logic. it makes me angry
