Forums - Microsoft - Possible reasons why the 360 doesn't have a web browser.

I know alot of people complain about the 360 not having a web browser.  So i've come up with a small list of possible reasons why it doesn't have one.

1. Viruses--Everyone knows that if MS had a web browser it would be an IE version, and IE is very virus prone.  Think about trying to play games with a virus ridden 360...it just wouldn't work.

2. Pirating--If they had a web browser people would find a way to use it to download 360 games right to their hard drive making the process that much easier.

3. No need for it--The majority of people that own a 360 have an HDTV, and with that you can hook up your computer right to it and surf the web on your HDTV.  So really MS might see it as not a big deal that the 360 doesn't have a web browser on it.  Plus they know that if someone wants a web browser on their 360 bad enough, that they can get one for it (its a hack type deal)

Thats all i could come up with at the moment...

Discuss, and let me know if their are any other possible reasons.

How would a web browser make it so much more expensive?

lolz!!!

There really is no need for a browser on a console, its the most pointless thing ever, and yes if it ever does come to the Xbox 360, I will still think its the most pointless thing ever.

err, i have a ps3 so i can confirm having a web browser on your game console is no big deal. frankly the controller is just not the best way to surf the net.

now having a web browser on an iphone, psp, ds, zune HD. that is worth it while imo.

i just don't get why MS advertises facebook compatibility like it's a big deal. anyone who cares about facebook obviously already has access to facebook and probably have access in a much more user friendly environment.

Well, my friend raised the point that he'd never in a million fucking years make a facebook page for himself, but he's all about giving his Xbox Live avatar one.

Frankly, I agree.

Features are never a "big deal" when you don't have them...
