You thought Metroid was a megaton? I'm happy a new one is coming, but I really didn't think it was that big of an announcement.

You crazy? It's huge.

I know it's a huge announcement, just not at quite that status. It seems along the lines of the timed exclusivity of Final Fantasy XIV.

I'm not sure what to make of the trailer. Is it 2D? 3D? A mix of both?

Is it a Metroidvania kind of platformer or it like the MP games? Is it like Ninja Gaiden?

The trailer looked very cool, but I'm not too sure on how it'll all work.

Nintendo's old IP's are of mythical status.

Any release is MEGATON. Specially these days Nintendo is spending so much dollars on the "expanded audience".

I think that's a little silly. Shouldn't it be an expectation for Nintendo to release great games from their old franchises every year?

If it were just another Metroid Prime I don't think it would be that exciting, but since it's a new developer that has a pretty good track record and it showed an amazing trailer (and no idea if it's 2D + 3D + first person) that reimagines the games makes it an amazing announcement.

Fair enough. I just want see some details before I get giddy.

I don't see how it's funny to expect Nintendo to put out a Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, Metroid, etc. (or maybe even a great new ip) every year. Sony and Microsoft do it.

No every year, every other year

I'm not saying that they should release one Zelda every year, but rather spread them out and give a blockbuster hit every year. It would have been nice to have a great game for the last half of 2008 for Wii.

Nintendo's old franchises don't resonate with the expanded audience and that's why there's been a shortage. You might not care much nor notice it since your multiplatform gaming gives you a lot of choices tho.

That's why it's a megaton, both a new 3D mario and metroid done by tecmo to boot.
