Forums - Nintendo - Vitality sensor would be awesome in survivial horror

Having your character change his abilities and actions due to how you are reacting would be great in a survival horror game, like if your heart rate went up over a certain level your character would begin to show signs of panic or something

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

That would actually be pretty cool, your character feels how you actually feel.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

Plus the game Ai could respond to you based on your heart rate, if you're too calm it could adjust the difficulty setting to make it more stressful

if they could find a way to implement it without making you play the game one handed.

And ill admite i know nothing about programming or processing but would the wii be able to handle that amount of on the fly coding and reading and changes? Not a dig, hell i dont even know if the 360 or PS3 could.

The only application for this i can see is wii fit add on for yoga breathing/slowing rate and exercise.....it would get in the way of gaming....

Or maybe something small....like a sniping or archery minigame that would steady the screen based on heart rate.

But would it be practical? I mean, having this on one hand, how will you hold the nunchuk and all (assuming the game lets you use the nunchuk for moving)?

Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

yeah, maybe if you got a persons "vitality" without having to actually wear the vitality sensor. i'd never wear it while playing a game anyways...it would get in the way.

There are ways around it, make the sensor a strap rather than a finger holder, place it on a finger like the pinky, that isn't vital for button pressing, have the game not use the nunchuck, etc.

There are ways around the issue of it getting in the way, however if implemetned correctly, the sensor could change the way that we interact with our games and how they interact with us.

Scary thought... but I dig it! Let's see what they do with this. =P

you wouldnt get an accurate read on pulse or oxygen saturation on your pinky though, it would need to be index finger to be implemented accurately...i work in a hospital and im in school for nursing...those strap on pulse ox readers are very frustrating...i suppose they could do it on your dominant hand holding the pointer and have the wire comins off of it...and have a sticky strap on your index. That actually would probably work well but then the question comes in to everyone having a different HR, you could set a personal standard in the menu and teh game reads off of that difference perhaps....

I think a less focal point it could be cool...liek for health regen in a game like dead space or a survival horror, after an intense confrontation your health wont regen until you reach your predetermined normal HR....but then you take that aspect away form people with atrial fibrilation or tachycardia or postural hypotension who would experience unfair changes to vitals.....meh, it just seems like too many variables and peoples vitals are so different for this to be implemented in a cool way the more i ellaborate out loud.

Trauma Center series used as both for the doctor and the patient in some way?
