There are ways around it, make the sensor a strap rather than a finger holder, place it on a finger like the pinky, that isn't vital for button pressing, have the game not use the nunchuck, etc.

There are ways around the issue of it getting in the way, however if implemetned correctly, the sensor could change the way that we interact with our games and how they interact with us.

you wouldnt get an accurate read on pulse or oxygen saturation on your pinky though, it would need to be index finger to be implemented accurately...i work in a hospital and im in school for nursing...those strap on pulse ox readers are very frustrating...i suppose they could do it on your dominant hand holding the pointer and have the wire comins off of it...and have a sticky strap on your index. That actually would probably work well but then the question comes in to everyone having a different HR, you could set a personal standard in the menu and teh game reads off of that difference perhaps....

I think a less focal point it could be cool...liek for health regen in a game like dead space or a survival horror, after an intense confrontation your health wont regen until you reach your predetermined normal HR....but then you take that aspect away form people with atrial fibrilation or tachycardia or postural hypotension who would experience unfair changes to vitals.....meh, it just seems like too many variables and peoples vitals are so different for this to be implemented in a cool way the more i ellaborate out loud.
