Forums - Sony - SONY PR: GT5 to be released this (fiscal) year?

Munkeh111 said:
There are about 3 possibilities over the release

1. It just won't be out this year
2. They really don't know whether it will come this year, they are aiming for December, but it probably won't make it
3. They will announce its release date with the slim, and it will be a slim launch title

Hmmm...immediate lauch after/during TGS in November (in Japan at least)?

That would explain the giggle about GT5's 2010 release date...

Doesnt Sony's fiscal year run April-April or something to that effect. So.....technically speaking February/March 2010 sounds about right.

the one from that interview so so long ago when that guy won some comp and got to speak to PD

He asked about GT5 potentially releasing in 2010 and was told "Sooner than you think *giggle*"

I'm having difficulty finding the link...

They are not going to announce anything related to GT 5 imho until GT Mobile has launched and done its job for the PSP GO. They are not going to cut their own arm by launching it near their own handheld game.

I expect a GT to come a month after FF XIII or perhaps when sales are sliding down again after the holidays. It'll come at a time when sony wants to keep / regain some momentum.

GT PSP comes with new PSP, perhaps GT 5 with new PS3? (or perhaps FF XIII gets that honour already)

More GT5 release date talk.

Six questions for the creator of Gran Turismo

When you are granted an audience with Kazunori Yamauchi, godfather of Gran Turismo, you take it. We spoke with his excellency in a suite overlooking downtown Los Angeles, where traffic on the twisted freeways below looked nothing at all like the thrilling tracks of that iconic game.

AW: When did you make the first Gran Turismo?

KY: I started in the latter half of 1992.

AW: How hard was it to make that first game?

KY: It took five years. In those five years, we could not see the end. I would wake up at work, go to sleep at work. It was getting cold. so I knew it must be winter. I estimate I was home only four days a year.

AW: With advances in technology, is it easier to make video games now?

KY: It’s more difficult now because it has become more complex. But the scale of the games has changed. The first one took seven people five years. If you were to try and do it today, it would take 10 times that many.

AW: Do you have 10 times the number working on GT5?

KY: We have 20 times that number.

AW: Would you say you are a perfectionist?

KY: We only do what we believe in. We do not hold ourselves to a time scale. We try to release something that we are satisfied with.

AW: When is Gran Turismo 5 coming?

KY: We made the announcement today that [the handheld game player PSP GO] is coming out Oct. 1 [with Gran Turismo 5 on it]. We will give the release date of the Gran Turismo 5 soon.

But I want a release date now! XD

Whenever it comes out it will be a must have AAA game and I just can't wait

I think 20 times the number was a little over exaggerated. Their website says 90 employees. Of course they could of hired more... but 50 more employees plus however many that were working on the PSP version? sounds a bit of an over exaggeration.

GT5 release date soon... I can not wait. I forsee crow eating.

I believe, and I could be very wrong here, that GT5 will release this fall. The main reason being GoW in March. Now, GoW looks very much finished. A few more months of polish and I find it very hard to believe that it couldn't be out this holiday if Sony wanted it to be. Instead they put it in March to keep in line with the other games in the series. Why? Its simple, because they don't need it this holiday. And though I love Uncharted and ratchet and Ninja Gaiden and WKC and the other games, they can't carry a holiday as well as Kratos can. So what is the BIG title for ps3 this holiday? GT5- Sony's single biggest franchise. At least that's what I thnk, could be GoW just wouldn't be ready, but again, given what we have seen, I find that very hard to believe.
