Forums - Gaming - Sony and Microsoft fanboys, do you guys REALLY care about motion control?

I'm a Sony fanboy, and I missed the Sony conference, and saw the bit with Microsoft with the motion control (with the girl kicking the virtual balls in a really silly manner). So, as consumers who's only interest should be about companies catering to you, and not them selling more consoles and biting into the Wii's sales (unless you own stocks in either companies, but then you're not thinking as a gamer), do you really care about these motion controls?

I find it sorta hypocritical how the same 2 fanboys, have been ripping at the Wii's motion controls (and to some extent, the Sixaxis), saying that they "gimmicky", that they hate "casual" games, and that they'll rather play with controllers, only to switch as say things like "NATAL is the shiznitz" and say how the Sony motion controller is better than the Wii motes or NATAL.

But IDK, maybe there is something extremely different between these 2 new motion controls, notably NATAL, than the Wii motes and its other peripherals.

IMHO, I don't like motion controllers other than for very simply things (e.g. controlling the wind in Flower, and in fact. If it wasn't for it's non competitive, relaxing pace, and lack of punishment, I probably would have wanted to control it via analong sticks), and don't want entire games built upon them. I want to be precise with my controls.

Not only that, the game types that are done with motion controls don't really seem appealing, and the attempts to venture into other genres seem to be shady. I don't want to play mini games. I don't really want to play sports games, but only have them for parties and for the enjoyment of other people, not myself.

I wouldn't really want to play an FPS with the Wii/PS mote. I REALLY don't want to play a FPS with NATAL. Driving's cool with the Wii wheel, but then again, why not just buy an non-Wii wheel for the HD consoles anyway, that have a sense of weight and attachement? Again (you can accuse me of being a Sony fanboy, lol) I REALLY don't want to play a racing game with NATAL it'll just feel weird without any sense of weight and position fo the wheel.

==============================

I think that motion controls should be limited in use. IDK, shaking the Sixaxis in GOWIII to escape from the clutches of a Cyclopes. Swinging it left it right when smashing someone's head into a rock. But if I had to play the entire GOW with motion controls (hmmm, will need a lot of space to swing Wii motes in my living room) I'll drop the game.

The other things, such as painting with controls don't appeal to me. Excersing, especially with NATAL, seems absolutely stupid (Buying NATAL to do pushups, crunches??? Just do it on the floor now! Go to a gym and hire a personal trainer, or just google some basic workouts and track results via paper instead of buying a Wii fit, and whatever PS fit clone that'll come out).

As for current Nintendo fanboys, I'm not saying that as a fact, motion controls suck. I'm just saying that it doesn't appeal to gamers like me, and I feel that the same gamers that felt the same way as me, are now faking their enjoyment in something, all for the orgasmic thought of the PS3/360 selling as much as the Wii, and not because of them actually wanting motion controls.

Summary:

Are we HD console gamers being hypocrites, by touting each HD console's respective motion control, after all the Wii bashing?

i could care less about the motion control. not interested...if i was i would have a wii

I'm not martin luther king. I don't have a dream. I have a plan

Sell a man a fish you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish you just ruined a perfect business opportunity.

We didn't emerge out of the stone age because we ran out of stones. Its time to be proactive not reactive.

As a Sony fan, I can honestly say that I don't care at all about motion controls, and the recent moves by Sony and MS to play catch up don't interest me at all. I want them to keep making great games like inFamous, Uncharted, Splinter Cell, and Alan Wake.

Its too late in the game for these things to take off and the Wii has that market on lock-down.

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

I could care less about motion. I honestly was disappointed as soon as it seemed like they would unveil the motion for sony and MS. If I wanted a motion controller, I would buy a Wii. Also, I don't see these motion controllers being used in a game besides mini games like those that the Wii got, atleast the Wii has other games that use it (Metroid Prime 3, Dead Space etc).

I won't lie, Project Milo was pretty cool.

i think if your a kid you know it seems cool to play your games like that. but there's going to be the need for a hand controller for some time to come, i mean if your disabled and can't run around like that or you have a very active live already like myself its just not for them, and there are plenty of middle age people that play games it just wouldn't work out for. its ok to have for a option but the day i have to come home and hang from a ceiling fan to mimic Sam Fisher hanging from a steam pipe ill just have to do something different i guess.

as a side note though working for the military id like to take Microsoft and Sony and Nintendo, all three into some labs. ill show them motion control.

Yep, i'm a girl

TBH not really. Im not going to decide until games are release for it and we see actual product demonstrations. Personally the SONY one is lame and a complete rip off of the wiimote. The M$ one looks like it could be really neat but needs to allow us to use a controller thing to cause games do need atleast a few buttons.

Long Live SHIO!

I care a lot about motion controls. But only because it might open up the way for lightgun games on consoles other than the Wii.

The MS one sounds way too ambitious to be flawless. Havent seen the Sony one, but i really dont care.
