And what the hell did Microsoft do?
Jesus.

Microsoft aquired the company who actually pefected motion sensing. Sonys eye toy was a joke and the only way to make it truly work was to copy the Wii's wand. I like it to tell you the truth, but that doesn't change the fact. Microsoft has the most unique motion sensor.

Did you misspell "perfected" on purpose because Microsoft's motion sensing is FAR from perfect, or because you really think this:  and  is "perfect" and you just happened to misspell it by mistake????

Project Natal has voice recognition technology as well as the ability to project foward-backward movements on screen, but at the end of the day, it's fuction is still based on capturing a specific object via camera and simulating the shape's actions on the screen... which is what the Eyetoy did first.... which is the same in regards to the Wiimote and the Sony motion stick..... which means they copied each other.

Further more, I'd like to add that everyone copies each other. That's how technology works, you look at a previous invention and attempt to improve upon it inorder to try and make it better than before.

You can talk about the NXE interface, and i'll say Natal perfected realism with the Milo interactive clip. That was freaking amazing.

...I think your use of the word "perfected" and "realism" is really over exaggerated. I already showed a flaw (whichmeans it's not perfect) with the akward movements of kudo's avatar when he was demonstrating the tech.

Also, the clip was basically a scripted AI telling YOU a set of options of what to do. I bet that there's alot of things this "milo" program would not recognize. If you're telling me that it's "perfected realism", then it must mean that you can do whatever you want in front of the camera (such as flick him off, tell him a nasty joke or threat him with violence) and he'd react realisticly, which we all know wouldn't happen. Believe me when I say this, If you think this is "perfect", you'll look quite silly when Microsoft, Nintendo, or Sony comes out with something even more advanced next time. That's how technology works.

well stage. I don't wanna sound like an ass (i know it's not stage i'm quoting but it's to add to all of this)

But..

erhm.

pew pew pew pew !

:p'

@cleaner yeah i really like how they showed it off. Should have shown off a game with it too but the tech demos demonstrated it perfectly since nothing was rehearsed. You could see it was the actual engineers and that the things just worked like they should..

Not only htat but the ps eye is also a camera so it can infact do more things than the wii mote (besides the motion controlling itself being more advanced)for instance scan you and wrap you around a char as a texture or whatever lol.. Freaky stuff XD but it's possible.

I can see the ps slim being bundled with this thing along with the ps eye.

Nintendo's goal was for motion sensing to become the standard. They have a clear advantage in this field and it's all falling into place for them.

Sony copies Nintendo with the cross button layout of the SNES controller. Then the analog and rumble of the N64 controller. Then belatedly adds motion controls to the Sixaxis after Nintendo announced motion controls. Now they are blatantly copying the Wii remote with their colored ice cream cone controller.

LMAO

that made my night.

Sony has no shame, no dignity, no creativity.

Yeah, they copied the Wiimote by filing patents for the camera+wand controllers back in August 2005, and by having the EyeToy out in 2002.

Come on, both Nintendo and Sony have been working on such alternative control methods since 2000 at least. What Nintendo did that was really new was to make such controls central in the experience of their platform, rather then an accessory.

I agree it was impressive, but....... Why wasn't it used as a live stage demo.. Didn't anyone find it odd that the videos looked 50 times more impressive than the Stage demo's? On stage Natal was in actuality more awkward looking than the Sony controller (which is saying something). in this industry beware of promotional videos, they tend to be very decieving.

I have to say i am not interested in motion controls, but its probably a smart move by sony. This way they may get alot of 3 party ports from the wii.

Sony did the RIGHT thing by copying because whenever they try to create their own stuffs, it's just a mess and won't succeed.

Sony are just hypocrites. "Oh the Wii is just a gimmick" Look who is the gimmick now. Then some people were like oh the the Wii remote sucks. And when they announce the Sony motion controller the same people were like omg this is going to be amazing. If you hate Wii remotes you hate Sony remotes final.

At least Sony doesn't force people to use their gimmick.

By that logic , everyone in the car industry has copied from Nickolaus Otto and his four stroke internal combustion engine. It's exactly the same principle, just slightly different.
