It may be the natural damage control reaction for Sony supporters to reiterate that Rising is a spin-off, but at the end of the day, that's exactly what it is; new direction with a former sidekick.

Well I need to get back to my paper on "Heart of Darkness", so this is going to be my last post.

Just because I classify Rising as a spin-off doesn't mean anything of value to me, other then the classification I have given it. (same with me not calling Versus a spin-off)

If Kojima and Nomura knock on my door tomorrow and tell me otherwise, I will say "coolio" and go about my business. I'm buying both games regardless of what they are.

Even if it is on 360 I'll be getting the smooth cremery bluray version thanx. My stack of useless DVD's has already grown far enough. Back in 2000 when DVD was hip and so was hardcore techno, I wouldn't 've mined.

Here in the future it's a "f that" to a DVD multiplat.

I'm pretty sure this is going to be the only "Metal Gear" game on the 360 given it is getting a bit late into this generation and the next generation of consoles should be ready to launch in a few years. If something changes next generation I could its possible the Metal Gear after this gets a debut on a Nintendo platform given they should be able to up the power of the hardware and be able to compete graphically with the other consoles. If Microsoft's still doing well I see no reason why they wouldn't make a game for whatever console they have the. I'd classify this as a spin-off simply because the naming convention makes me think it's one. I'd also considering Versus XIII a spin-off as well in case anybody cares or whatever.

Metal Gear Solid 4 was the 10 out of 10 and the culmination of MGS. This MG Rising is just a game that Hideo shouldn't be making when instead he should be furthering his legacy by creating the third game in the Snatcher and Policenauts series.

Hideo looked very nervous the whole time he was up there with the Microsoft guys and when one of them mentioned the further adventures of Solid Snake he said, "I didn't say anything about Solid Snake."

How is MGS4 better than MGS1, and also why shouldn't Kojima be making a MGS game. Finally, what does your last sentence have to do with anything.

Isn't MGS2 the highest rated of all the MGS games, and also one of the best selling?

I'd wager that MS is getting every multiplatable MGS from here on out, anyway. I think assuming they won't, is wishful thinking. Kojima isn't humoring MS, he was a keynote speaker at their E3 presser, and said, along with Sessler, that the franchise would now be on MS consoles.

Are you seriously quoting Kojima on the solid snake bit to downplay this next entry in the MG universe? He was acting dude, watch it again, the MS official bringing up snake was a set up for the trailer of the new game.

For those people who don't get it. Everygame game after the original Metal Gear has been a spin off. Metal Gear Solid series was a spin off. The main storyline entries will now be Metal Gear Rising. Until a decade or so from now when Kojima decides to continue the story elsewhere. Or end it.
