Forums - Microsoft - Left 4 Dead 2

What do you think of this? Honestly, I'm pumped for this and can't wait to tell my friends. But there's an obvious trend going on here. It started with Tony Hawk, then Guitar Hero, then Call Of Duty, also Rock Band, and now this. What all of these series have in common is releasing a sequel every freaking year. I don't want to pay $60 for a game and then a year or less, have it be updated with another $60 purchase. And I don't normally buy games at release date. I wait for prices to go down, but by the time that happens, they already have another one out, and the trend just keeps going and they keep milking the heck out of it. Not all of us are made of money, you know. Sorry if this turned into a rant thread, but for some reason, I can't copy and paste into another thread.

Anyway, this game does look good. One problem I had with Left 4 Dead was the all night thing, and I'm glad they addressed that with this release. Also, it takes place in New Orleans, so that's interesting. I might just save up money for this and not buy the first one for reasons above. I just hope this game has some effort put into it and not just a rushed sequel like a lot of the ones above.

Opinions?

I agree,i dont like paying $60 for a game every year,i dont think value would allow it tho.

I don't like sequels every year if they are on the same game engines...

But, Valve is a great developer so if it is a full campaign I will end up buying it...

i agree with you sequels every year are really lame. But VALVE is making this so dont worry about the quality!!! Valve makes amazing games that are always worth your money!! BTW L4D is amazing. I would pick it up if i were you :). L4D2 looks cool too but hopefully it dosnt look cartoony like the trailer does.

Long Live SHIO!

hmmm, an expansion would have been better. But then maybe there was some flaws with the original L4D. Map support was never fluidly integrated.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

A sequel to the online game of the year 2008?

Count me in.

Day 1........... Bottom line_________________

this could have easily been done with DL Content

When I first heard the announcement my first guess was this should have just been DLC. I guessed it was going to be just another 4 or so maps, some new weapons, and new player character models at most but after reading about it, it looks like it's going to be worth the full price again.

I bought Left4Dead twice (Steam + 360) and I'm sure I'm going to be just as excited to buy L4D2 twice.  Valve only really knows how to do quality and I have faith that they will deliver again.
