Video: Xbox 360 Games on Demand service

Curious how the Xbox 360's recently announced "Games on Demand" service is going to look in your Dashboard? Microsoft made this helpful video, walking you through the entire process. First off: Buying Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, for $19.99 (note: no Microsoft Points here, folks). Next: Booting up the already purchased BioShock. Simple as pie, no disc needed. And the cherry on top: Quick Launching Mass Effect from inside BioShock. Looks like a great feature ...

... now, let's talk about those hard drive prices.

Microsoft Offering 360 Games On Demand Starting August

Microsoft had more news than they could fit in their press briefing, announcing an on-demand download gaming service during a post-briefing lunch. Microsoft points not required.

Xbox Live's Marc Whitten announced that, starting in August, Xbox 360 owners will be able to download full Xbox 360 games. Titles shown in a dashboard mock-up included Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, BioWare, LEGO Star Wars and Oblivion.

New games will be offered each week.

Microsoft points will not be required, as the service will support credit card purchases.

Whitten declined to say how closely the games will be released to regular retail releases. Prices were not announced.

First I was like....AWESOME...Then I remembered I don't have much place on my HD so I can't download them....It is good for one game or two but this will only full your HD much quicker and will force 20GB/60GB owners to get a bigger HD.

This is good news. I might just have to upgrade my hard drive.

very cool idea, i would only do this with "rpg's" . with all this great 360 news, i am tempted to get back into the 360 arena, now if ff13 does indeed come to the 360 1st in the states, that alone might make that decision easy for me to make. but as of right now, i am staying with just my ps3.

So will 6 discs matter now with FFXIII to the person who gets it off this? That would be a hell of a download though huh? What will retailers think?

Its a good thing I have been taught the value of not getting up to change discs by very enlightened Sony fanboys. Now I have a good excuse to never buy any multi-plats on the PS3 again.
