Forums - Microsoft - Know anyone buying a 360...because of Halo?

My office today seems to be quite abuzz with the Halo3 release. I work as a sysadmin in a webhosting company, so there are alot of videogame geeks here.

Just curious, Im wondering how many of you know someone who is picking up a 360 ...because of Halo3. Most of the people I know "were going to pick on up eventually someday" but Halo3 has become the catalyst for them to do it now.

    So far I know i know 4.

-my best friend, wants a 360 now, and wants the Halo edition hardware. ("it looks cool")

-3 coworkers, waited until now to buy it (we have a clan at work that played Halo2 together)

Of course next weeks hardware sales will tell for certain wether the statement "people that want Halo3 already own a 360" holds any truth. I personally think this game is going to move a crapload of hardware (no duUUuUh).

Id listen to you and take your word for it if you didnt have a ps3 as your avatar @ fried ya i have a few friends who are buying cause of this game, i think it should boost it quite a bit, but who knows we wont till the sales release

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

It is sad because I think that the RROD will outweigh Halo for sometime. It's getting great reviews, and teh 360 has some amazing games, but I don't think this will put them in any better position. Once we know there are fewer faulty 360's Microsoft might be in a better position to attack the Wii.

And one last thing...no more SKUs. That's the real killer I think, as it just cripples the lower priced model.

5 people I know . 2 bought 1 this week and the other 3 said they are getting it tomorrow

...10 people Including my dad :'.

If buying one 2 weeks ago counts then count me in.
Also I had 2 friends that bought their 360s acouple weeks before me but it was mainly for halo when it comes out they just wanted to get a jump on it.
If that counts then WOOT...lol but other than that no one.

Xbox 360 - 15 Million

Playstation 3 - 8.5 Million

My Buddy broke down and bought his for halo 3 a month or so ago. Another is on the fence I hope this makes him fall over to the evil side. I want more real life people on xboxlive.

Not sure about that. The general public doesnt seem to stay on top of these things as much as "hardcore gamers" do. You know, people who read websites like this on a daily basis. And even thenthe current shelf stock should be mostly updated hardware no?  As an example, the guys at the office know about the RROD issue, but seem to be under the assumption the new units (like the Elites, Halo edition and new Pro's w HDMI) have had the issues resolved. Wether thats true or not, fear of rrod doesnt seem to be deterring their 360 buying decision.
