Forums - Sales - Defective discs effecting sales

I'm new to this site, and just wanted to say this is the best gaming site on the internets!!!

Anyway... I was talking to a manager at EB Games in Canada about the $2-3 dollar insurance you can get on your game, in the case that it's a defective disc you can exchange it no questions asked.

He said usually they need to keep more x360 games on hand because a lot more of them are defective, compared to PS3 games.

Now I have a question, does EB Games buy the games, and use the odds of people buying the service vs. the number of defective discs to make a profit? or do they make money on top of being able to returning the disc?

If it's the former, this is a slight inflation of xbox games sales only because they're defective.

What do you think?

Around the Network

hey the same thing happened with rrods!!!

We don't really know how the system works. You should ask your manager if customers are wrung up as a new sale once a defective one is found.

Do not buy it there scamming you. They have to exchange defective discs anyways. Well atleast here in the US. I hate gamestop btw

I was buying Sacred 2 for ps3 at the time. He said they only had 2 copies per day... and he was worried about selling the xbox copies because they wouldnt have replacements on hand for the insurance thingy.

It seems hard to believe that this would be a wide spread problem and not gain a lot of attention in the forums.  I also don't get your comment about getting 2 copies of the game in per day.  What kind of distribution place would ship 2 copies per day?
