Forums - Nintendo - Could the next Zelda be an RTS?

Zelda is a franchise that pretty much defined its genre at the time, and then defined it again when 3d came. I want them to first and foremost define the motion control aspects and gameplay of an Action-Adventure with motion controls. They can make an RTS afterwords, but in no way will it work as well as the Action-Adventure games have. Also how would Zelda work as an RTS? The games focus on Adventuring and Puzzles. Both of these are some of the least things found in RTS. Not only that if that patent for the replay thing is true, then it sure won't be an RTS. Actually I would like to see a part of a Zelda game played as an RTS, but not a whole game focusing around it.

well, i don't know if you have evr played a rts on a console. but the xbox(and ps3 i assume) have a hard time having that many people on screen. so with the wii and its even more limited horsepower(?) than the 360. i can not see it either running smoothly, or with alot of people.

not to mention the problems with the controls.

Have you ever played Warcraft or Warcraft 2? I find these machines that would run on 120mhz and less with no advanced graphics card support did extremly well. These games also ran awesome with a pointer. I have no idea where your coming from with the Wii not being a good machine for an RTS. However Zelda RTS, nah I'll pass.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

For God's sake the N64 had starcraft. On topic, nah, don't like the idea. Why mesh two unassociated things? Why not a new IP RTS and regular awesome Zelda's?

Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.

I doubt it, I think when it was said this Zelda would be like no other meant the Wii's abilities will be executed in a way that has never been used in Zelda before.

then i can see the fanboys crying out in agony. (i know it is off topic but) just look at banjo it wasn't even on their system and they were crying out in agony.
but i love rtss, how would you think they could implement it though? it doesn't work that well on the xbox or ps3, or do you mean on the ds?

again i am not trying to troll.

trust me, gamers would all be angry, not just fanboys.

I still think it could happen in the future, but I do agree that the next Zelda will be Action/Adventure.

Guitar Hero 3/ Smash Hits

I think it will be a coin-up arcade.

Joke thread?

Seriously. If they ever turn Zelda into an RTS I'll know Nintendo's in trouble.

Well actually. It would be hard. What will the game be about? Anyway the number
1 gem nintendo has is pikmin

I'll be blunt, I thought of this yesterday, wondering how the next Zelda would be "Like no other" and I thought, why not an rts?  What do you think?

No, for the same reason that the "next Mario" game will never have "party" in the title.

If they're creating a game with vastly different gameplay, it will always be a spinoff.
