What this man did for a living was heinous and disgusting, and tantamount to murder itself in my eyes.

But under NO circumstances does it make his killing anything less than the same, disgusting murder.

How do you feel about the Army then? Soldiers are the biggest pile of scum on this planet by your logic.

It was just a job for him at the end of the day. It wasn't his hobby to terminate featuses, I bet he didn't take pleasure in terminating each one.

@bolded,

Since you are going by his view - You are saying you don't see a difference between killing babies (what he views this man did for a living) and killing terrorist or enemy soldiers (what soldiers do) on a field of battle. So no..his logic doesn't lead to that conclusion.

Your statement is simply a massive simplification of an issue that is not simple.

To Each Man, Responsibility

I agree with Highwaystar, as I usually do.

Women should have the right to choose what they do to their own bodies. That being said, I hate late term, and especially partial birth abortions to the core.

That being said, you can't just walk up and kill somebody that you have a disagreement with. If everybody did that, the US would be in total anarchy.

We'll miss you George.

No it's not an oversimplification in any way what so ever. I think you will find that the vast majority of wars are fought between multiple The soldiers kill other soldiers who are also doing it for their job.

In any war you are killing people who fight as part of their job. Enemy soldiers are just as innocent as your soldiers are in reality. A solidier who kills another soldier knows nothing about them, that soldier could be a saint in real life, it's disconnected murder like abortion. So by his logic a soldier is a sick twisted indiviual who murders for pleasure the same as abortionists.

It's hypocritical, how can one justify the army murdering people they know nothing about, but claim that abortion is immoral because it is murder?

(Note: I support both the army and abortion)

Yay, someone finally agrees with me on this site.

Partial birth abortions are actually the least gruesome of late term abortion tactics... which is why it's funny that it's the one that is singled out.

You know, I'm curious, but I know I'll regret asking, so I'll just let the issue lay where it is. :P

It is absolutely an oversimplification to compare the death of a soldier to the death of an infant.  To even suggest otherwise, let alone as strongly as you have, is patently ridiculous.

You're trying to say that a job killing babies can be equated to a job killing soldiers....this is so obviously absurd that you're frankly a bit out of line to suggest it, much less forcefully assert it.

There is nothing hypocritical about it unless you take this insane view that they are even remotely similar...they aren't.  Not even close.  Abortion is to the pro-life advocates (and their view is what you are discussing) the intentional murder of helpless human infants without any defense or knowledge of threat whatsoever.  War is nothing like that, you are fighting other soldiers who are trained, armed, and most importantly aware of your threat.  In war soldiers can surrender and lay down arms...can a fetus do that? In war if you get injured you get treatment...in PBAs if you aren't dead when they pull you out they throw you into a can and let you starve or suffocate.  There isn't even a comparison here Highway. Not even remotely.

To be honest when I said it was a simplification I was actually giving you the benefit of the doubt that you weren't so extreme as to actually think these things equivalent.  Was I wrong, do you actually believe them equivalent?  Is this really the level of discourse we are at now where people compare intentional murdering of defensless children to a soldiers death in a war?

PS - I want to note that while I am pro-choice for abortions before week 18 I am vehemently opposed to any abortion without serious medical justification after week 21.  I'm not quite "justified reaction of violence" vehement but I do find LTAs and PBAs distasteful even in medically justified situations (those circumstances are no win situations, and don't envy the persons who have to make that choice).
