Forums - Sony - Something Mean SOny Could Do With PSP Go!

To push the new system, they could release new games a week early for DD and then after a week has passed they could release the game on UMD for PSP 1k-3k users. Its a harsh move but would push the Go!

I think its within the realm of possibility. You think Sony would pull this?

How would this "kill the PSP brand completely"?

Non Go! users would still get the game, they would just have to wait a week longer for it. This impatience could potentially lead to more adopters of the newer model. Nothing is preventing all PSP users to play the games.

Just kind of like how Patapon 2 was released, and I was thinking the same thing you said. Releasing a downloadable version a week ahead of the retail release would be mean, and I dont think Sony would be stupid to do that.  They could do a 24h retail hold in releasing the game on the PS Store on Monday, and the retail on Tuesday.

Or the impatience could lead to more people pirating the games, as they have to wait and cannot be bothered/afford "upgrading" (I say "uprgading" because I don't think the PSP-Go or DSi are truly better than their predecessors).

This is the truth.

Even PSP Go! games will most likely get pirated thanks to Sony's fore sight to include the PSP Go! ability to read Sony M2 cards. Yes the DRM may be heavy, but I'm sure someone will crack it eventually.

It's just that simple.

sorry to have sonded like a jerk in my first post, In all honesty I think the PSP GO! is a bad idea to begin with. I'm also afraid that since I am considering getting a PSP, they will start doing goofy crap like with Patapon 2, and I will have to jump through hoops for games I want.

The reason I said my comment above was because of what others have said, people will get impatient and download non-legit copies of the games. In all honesty for a handheld plagues by piracy, having a "download only" system sounds like paradise to bootleggers and not too many other people. we'll see though, my assumptions could be wrong.

That's... not nice at all
