Actually no you can replace a $1000 dollar system with a $200 one. :P its called the xbox 360 arcade. It boasts great graphics and as far as gaming is concerned most people wont be able to tell the difference (graphics wise). Im not bashing the wii just pointing out that PC gaming is good and especially when you dont have to buy a new machine every year

Nobody said they hate PC gaming.  They just said that the PS3 and 360 try to emulate the PC experience, and their decision to do so has caused them to be less successful in the market than Nintendo.

Better Graphics =

- more expense towards consumers (60 dollar games vs 50 dollar games)

- more expense towards developers, causing less variety, and less original/ new experiences in games, since games with better graphics require higher budgets, and companies don't want to risk high budgets on new ideas.

Not having the option to upgrade your hardware is a negative when it comes to top-tier, hardcore gaming enthusiasts.  It prevents you from being able to have cutting edge graphics, and forces you to wait five or six years to be at the top again.  This is the point Rol is trying to make.  HD consoles take a lot of the negatives that PC's have, but at the same time, don't offer the same positives.

Wii is ~200$ system over 4~5 years. PC is ? in 4~5 years? We're talking about 2-3 upgrades in that time period.

PS: I don't hate PC gaming, some of my favorite games are Fallout 2, Starcraft, Diablo, Baldur's Gate, etc. Yet lately PC gaming has been dwarfed to get closer to consoles (for instance ES4:Oblivion), and pretty much offers nothing more that a Core 360 as you pointed out.

I agree with all parts except the LAN. I feel the online multiplayer is simply an extension of the great local multiplayer that consoles typically enjoy. However, great online multiplayer should never be at the expense of local. That is where PS360 begin to fail this gen. However, the opposite is where Wii really needs to gain.

Maybe that assumption is true for Graphic whores but for most people a vastly smaller price tag for nearly identical experience. That alone is a HUGE advantage for consoles over PC gaming.

I don't get why peeps STILL complain so much about the wii's lack of 3rd party support.Haven't you guys seen all the previews?The Grinder,Red Steel 2,No More Heroes 2,Gladiator A.D(I think dats d name),3 unannounced Capcom games,a couple of point & click games,a wii exclusive shaun white,a wii exclusive Need for Speed,wii exclusive anime games(upcoming Dragonball & Bleach),a wii exlusive TMNT game,Muramasa,etc
The 3rd party games are coming around.The PS3 & 360 have 4 player offline games,right?I have played both consoles @ friends' houses lots of times but all my friends only have 2 pads.If both have 4 player support locally,then the only areas in which they fail in my opinion are affordability and diversity.As a game lover,I can get the widest variety of games on the wii.The other 2 are also too expensive for me.I don't mind a game using too many buttons.I'd get used 2 it.
