Forums - Microsoft - Valkyrie Chronicles for the 360 is impossible?

Technically it is very possible for the 360. As already stated above, a deal was probably made with Sega for at least a timed exclusivity if not full.

I already own this title for my PS3, and it has been one of my favorites so fare this Gen. Hopefully it does come to 360, the more people who can experience this game the better.

-MS was offered the project, they refused.

-The engine is a custom PS3 one, making porting hard.

-There's some sort of deal in place, with Sony getting the game when MS refused, and add the Sony-sponsored anime to that.

the game engine is called "canvas engine" it was developed specifically for ps3 hardware.

of course they could port it to 360 but with the ammount of speech and superb audio in game i reckon 4 dvd`s for the like for like game.

Do you know what compression is? 2 discs is what it would take mst likely.

I dunno Kazs, I mean how many sales do you think VC has to get before it starts making Sega money, not to mention the DLC sales. I have a hard time believing they haven't made money yet.

It's hard to tell because we know so little about the engine, the level of detail of the graphics (because of it's style) etc.

The engine causes the PS3 to slowdown very noticibly when near the grass.

Is the engine that powerful and expensive or is it just poor coding?  etc.

It's really hard to tell.  Custom Engines are expensive as hell.  Unreals 1 Million dollar liscensing fee + royalties is seen as a bargain.

I am grateful for all the answers, I will wait to see what happens in the E3, perhaps the agreement with the exclusivity already expired. I will buy a ps3 (without a doubt), but I don't know when... and I need to play this game. Now I have hopes, my thanks to all of you.

You also get some slowdown with big ragnite mortar explosions...

I'd say they screwed up SOME coding.

Yeah, if you like SRPG games at all it's a must play as it shows the direction in which SRPGs should move in.  Though I still don't get why most SRPGs go with the "I go then you" formula when Tactics Ogre and FFT showed a better way that involved more complexity.

The medals system alleviates it a bit... but it causes a problem in that one unit sometimes then just pulls off 3-4 moves in a row  (scout rush) and it kinda breaks the immersiveness of it being a war where everyone is acting close to the same time.

Someone should fix the difficulty level in VC though. The game becomes extremely easy once you get granade launchers for your scouts...

Yeah it's hard to say.  I've heard supporters just claim the game uses an advanced engine.

Not really sure which I believe.

i said like for like. of course they could do it on 2 dvd, but just look at the game along with all the audio in game. i dont think it would work well with 2 dvd`s.
