I don't believe people who read here run the world, or govern outcomes. What matters is sales. If Nintendo keeps printing money with their machines, it doesn't matter if they hold, show, or fold and decide to play Jacks instead.

Hard for people who are emotionally invested to be able to understand financially driven decisions. People who are, generally overestimate their importance in the scheme of things. Only place that this is an exception is in human relationships, where people are collectively emotionally invested in a common relationship. Odds are companies like Sony and Nintendo don't even know who most of these Internet fan(boys) are. That is the main explaination why the Nintendo presentation at E3 last year was seen as horrible. Nintendo knows their own bubble, and they HEAVILY played up that bubble a lot. Cammie is queen of the bubble I think.
i have a feeling MS's motion controls will be scrutinized alot. There is no wow factor any more and the fact that most games will not appeal to the press means all that hype publicity that Nintendo got will be less likely in the latter case. If it is 09's Wii Music then all Nintendo have to do is beat Sony.
“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
I hope Microsoft does not unveil a motion sensing controller. They have copied Nintendo so much, so much that I hate them. If they unveil a motion sensing controller, I swear they will drop in my eyes forever.
Nintendo should unveil both, Mario Wii AND Zelda Wii. Be like Sony. Announce games 2-3 years before release to build up hype.
