Pointless. A well-crafted 10-15 hour game with a lot of replay value is not too short. Period. If it was single player only, that would be on the short side, but its not and almost no one buys Halo to play exclusively the single player.

Rather than this being the first game I get for the 360 it's one I'll be picking up from the bargain bin a long way down the road instead. I can always go to a friends house to play his version to scratch that itch, but unless Xbox Live gamers have drastically changed in maturity from the days of Halo 2, I think this is a pass for me. |
I think everyone has had a bad experience with Xbox live with Halo at one point or another, but I would never let that prevent me from playing. I would say maybe 1 out of every 7-10 games you get a jerk that likes to run his mouth. Usually for me that's about twice a week as I don't play it that much. With Halo 3 you can mute specific players. You can do this during the match setup, seeing as usually those jerks are running their mouths then as well. I find the overwhelming majority of people to be tolerable if not downright friendly.
I started playing the campaign last night on normal. It seemed fairly easy, especially with all of the checkpoints, but my guess is that it would take significantly longer than 10 hours on the harder levels.
Naz you should give it a chance ....
I mean it does have alot of good qualities--thats what halo has always been good at--take the best features currently in games and bring them all into one package---not that that is a bad thing

This game is only 7 hours long in the campaign!!
What, you people were wasting time with the flood, and walking around in the pretty water for hours?

Well, one of the best Halo players took 7 hours to beat it on heroic, I think it would take longer for a good player to beat it.

QFT. Most of the people who complain about that have clearly never played online.
I beat the campaign yesterday, and I'd guesstimate that it was 8ish hours. Too short for my likeing, but I kinda rushed through things just to finish the story before it was spoiled for me.

"Why do they call it the xbox 360? Because when you see it, you'll turn 360 degrees and walk away"
Yeah, I really started to fly through the checkpoints last night. I've completed 4 of the 11 chapters in about 3 hours. It seems pretty cool so far, but the main reason I got it was for the multiplayer.

Those are two totally different things. Crappy mini games used to display gimmic-type controls vs. short bursts of intense gameplay.
If the mini-games were fun - i.e. bowling, tennis, boxing - no one would be complaining about it. But games like Big Brain Academy, Mama's cooking (or whatever it's called), Wii Play and a lot of the other games put out are pointless mini-games.
