I'm pretty sure that was the beginning of halo 3 when he was falling back to earth, but i could be wrong

But that is the genius of what Bungie did. You do not know anything about Master Chief but they made him a badass through his actions alone. Kind of like Gordon Freeman. The story is about what's going on around Master Chief, but Master Chief is there to make sure that Earth wins. Why should the hero need dialogue? Do you think every war hero has awesome punch lines and a great deal of character?

OT: I know he is a guy. I thought it was a known fact... I was talking about how so little background is given for him in the games and how you have to be books that are canon to get the backstory... Which I am not a fan of (reading, I mean).
