Forums - Microsoft - Is it worth getting a 360... (not a troll topic)

Is it worth getting a 360 without getting Xbox Live Gold membership? THIS IS NOT A TROLL TOPIC, just something that I was thinking about if I were to ever "Jump in". I ask because most of my friends are on PSN so I would buy all multiplats for the PS3 so I was thinking Xbox live gold wouldn't really be a necessity for me, but I'm not quite sure.

The claim to fame for several 360 exclusives (Gears 1-2, Halo 3, etc.) is their online play. If you can appreciate the single player experience more or just skip them all together, I don't see why you shouldn't get a 360.

Pixel Art can be fun.

Well I'd say its worth it for Mass Effect alone!  both Gears of War have good campaigns, and Halo 3 is a blast for splitscreen godliness!  Fable 2 is a good fun single player game. And if you like racing, Forza and PGR series are great.

Also you can actually get xbox live silver for free...which allows you to do everything except play online.  So you can chat with friends get demos and pretty much anything else you could think of.

But wait for E3 for any possible exclusives that have great single players before you make your choice.

I own a 360 and rarely have an active Gold Membership.

The single player and local co-op experiences are more than enough for me.

Yea thats why I asked because most of the 360 games are heavily online oriented. I would be getting a 360 for their RPG offerings and xbox live marketplace games, I'm not really interested in Halo and Gears (well besides the Gears SP campaign).

By all means, get a 360 then.  Just avoid Enchanted Arms. *cringe*

Does Enchanted Arms really suck that bad?  I almost bought it this afternoon at Gamestop, they had it used for under $10.  I guess I got lucky by not getting it! :D

I bought the arcade disc instead which has Boom Boom Rocket, Feeding Frenzy, Luxor 2, Pac-Man Championship Edition, and Uno, for $7.

If I had to describe Enchanted Arms in one word, it would be TTOOOOOYYYYYYAAAAA!

-twitches a bit-

The Rpgs are great (hope they keep em coming!)

While the online is a big part of what makes the 360 fun, one thing that gets overlooked a lot is the local multiplayer stuff on the 360. Personally, I wouldn't have enjoyed Gears in single player (we might have similar tastes) but playing through the whole story with a friend was a blast! One of the best local co-op games I've played.
