Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo wants 70 percent third-party support for Wii

The title of the thread made it seem like he was demanding it, not striving for it. Sony and MS are striving for the same type of thing, but definitely not 70%.

I ve been hearing that crap since 2007. Why some people cant just accept the fact Wii will never have such good 3rd party support as PS360. Wii has inferior hardware and weird controlls and coz of that developers kinda hate to develop games for it. Also, shooters and mature games dont sell on wii

Blade, just stop. You're embarassing yourself in front of everyone now. Development and houses pushing towards Wii developmnet have only increased since 2006, and continue to increase. Nintendo is getting more 3rd party exclusives, not less.

Your argument is so ingrained and yet ancient, it's almost like talking to a racist, but in the context of videogames.

blade man, I can somewhat understand where you are coming from, but sales, data, and consumers don't lie, it's already happening and about to get there.

Why is it people always put PS3 and 360 together when arguing a point like this? I'll concede, yah wii might not have as many great third-party games as two systems combined. But, already it has an equal, if not better, lineup of third party exclusives than either system alone. And I'm ok with that.

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

Now you know how I felt arguing with people over Dead Rising CTYD. It's not that they disliked the game. It's that they decided they hated it before it came out, just as a racist decides they hate people before meeting them (and they projected their prejudice onto me by claiming I was doing the opposite). Some even insisted they didn't have to play the game, or wait to see reviews and impressions, to know it was bad. Just like a racist.

Back on topic, NPD shows third parties are doing well on the Wii, and that was months ago, so it's clear this is an achievable goal for Nintendo.

Yea, look at those awesome games being ported to wii. Fallout 3, GTA IV, Bioshock, Modern warfare 2, Resident Evil 5... Wii is really getting good 3rd party support

/sarcasam

Most of 3rd party support Wii gets is from SEGA and EA (even though Wii games from EA usually suck )

dood, it's 2009, it's not wishful thinking nor is it speculation, it's happening, do you really think 3rd party would ignore something that has sold 50 million units, the PC devs won't change too much, but they still have to adept and eat it up the ass, that's reality, believe doesn't do jack in this case. It's not like they are trying to shoot for 70% marketshare, just the ratio of 70% 3rd party sales and 30% first party on Wii, the only place where that'd be trouble is Japan, but that's only because Sony and MS have some crap ass first party titles to the Asian population and would die off without 3rd party support.

Fixed. That's the thing that actually was insisted and didn't happen. Wi support is growing, and sales have proved it.

what? the 70% thing? have you even done your research or are you trying to change the subject? do you even know when reggie came out with that 70% goal thing?

edit: it's one thing to be a fanboy, it's another to be a hater and try to argue without rationalizing anything or doing the proper research. also, don't mix up what I'm saying with other people, I'm speaking strictly about numbers, quality has nothing to do with it, Nintendo is simply dominating and that's the hard truth.

BladeofGod, I want to be nice and give you some advice.

Every time you try to argue with someone, you end up looking like a fool. Your claims are weak and uninformed, leading to them being easily crushed. What you are arguing has already been proven to be very probable based on data. You never actually use any data to support your claims. You just make them.

I may seem hostile, but I'm trying to give you some advice. Do a little research and don't get hostile. If there is data showing third parties are moving away from the Wii, then that will help your argument. Saying "This is the same thing people say every year," does not help your arguments. In fact, it weakens them since they show there is no meat to them. You need to learn how to debate with others. Perhaps you'll sway people to your ideas a lot more. I can tell you your current strategy isn't working.
