Forums - Sony - Could the True Blue Megaton be GTA5, PS3 exclusive?

I'm talking about a contract which thoeretically should have been in place before this gen even started. If no such contract ever existed then Sony was very stupid not to have made one.

The existance of such a contract would defy all common sense. Since GTA IV is multiplatform.

And if there was such a contract, Take 2 would be willing to pay 175 million dollars to rip it up.

What is this exclusive IP? It is rumored that it was a trade off for allowing GTA4 simultaneous release. There is no evidence to suggest that this is or is not true. However even if it is not, I'm looking to explore the reasoning behind Sony losing this exclusive.

Everything you're pointing out is only the surface of this story. My intention is to uncover the internal dealings behind the scenes. Use your imagination. Indulge your sense of speculation. If you cannot, there is no need to post.

Why is anyone responding to this 12 year old's fantasy dream? Judging by his previous posts hes made crazier theories about SONY to fantasize about. Hes just trying to dream. Let him and move on

Lol excatly and the fact He's going off topic with some of his posts

1) Rockstar were not in an exclusivity contract with Sony
2) No GTA game has ever been exclusive to a Sony home console. The PC and xbox received vrsions of the PS2 games
3) GTAIV sold better on the 360 than the PS3

Why would GTAV be PS3 exclusive?

Please do move on. I'm looking to have a conversation with reasonable adults. Still waiting for you to prove that you have the capacity to do this.

killergram - the OP asked a hypothetical question which you seem to of missed.

Before the PS3 and 360 were even out would have been when TT entered into this contract. No copies were even sold. Hence no 175million to keep exclusive.

Dark Chaos - your trolling big time.

yohan - all a contract means is a legal binding agreement. If i sai 'i'll give you this cup of lemonaid only if you will enjoy it. if you dont like it you have to pay me a dollar' and you agreed we entered a contract. you didnt buy anything from me.

Now, I'm usually a reasonable person who can admit it when he makes a mistake. If you'd said this the first time, you would have gotten an apology from me. It wouldn't have taken you much longer to write either. Now I'm just pissed at you instead. And I admire your touch of mispelling my name. Illiterate, indeed.

But as I said in a previous post (that you didn't seem to read since you appear to believe I was still not in possession of this information) the very idea doesn't make any sense. It MIGHT have made sense if GTA IV hadn't been a multiplatform release, and if there had actually ever been any exclusivity on GTA games.

Look at it this way. You know that Bioshock was a timed exclusive for 360 right? And you know that MS made a deal for that to happen right? And you know that PS2 had GTA as timed exclusives everytime right? So no, we don't have the contract sitting in front of us to evaluate. But it is not outside the relm of speculation that such a contract, at one point, (most likely before the PS3 even came out) did in fact exist.

now to respond to the doesnt make sense part.

the way i see it GTA5 represents the next GTA and not the actual 5th game. TT could have went to Sony asking Sony to finance GTA4. Sony could have refused. TT then could have entered into another agreement. one to of let TT use the money earned from 4 to make the exclusive game they owe Sony. All the while getting a loan from MS to be able to finish 4 up and giving them DLC in return

It's most definitely not outside of the realm of speculation, no. But we would be talking about a contract more than 3 years old for the sequel to a game not yet released, on a console not yet proven. It really makes very little business sense to make such a contract. IF there had been one, it would much more likely had been dealing with timed exclusivity, since that's what all GTA releases last generation were. And most likely GTA IV pretty much ripped up any previous contracts by going multiplatform.
