Forums - Sony - Could the True Blue Megaton be GTA5, PS3 exclusive?

^ unless it was contracted

Correct me if i'm wrong but don't they have to BUY contracts??

I highly doubt Take 2 would sign a contract for exclusive if they didn't get any money out of it.  And a contract of that magnitude would not be cheap.

I don't think the next GTA will be exclusive...just doesn't seem plausible

Okay I'll correct you. You're wrong

NEVER

Sony would have to pay at least hundreds of millions of dollars for that. Look at how many copies of GTA4 sold on 360. A hell of a lot. And Take-Two is in the middle of some serious financial troubles at the moment. The last thing on their minds is GTA5 being exsclusive for anyone.

So does anyone know for a fact weather or not Sony had a contract with Rockstar for all those timed exclusives on PS2? If they did then how was Rockstar able to get out of it? If they didn't then why do they have to give Sony this exclusive IP?

Yes it seems unlikely that GTA5 would be PS3 exclusive. Still I can't help but feel that part of the puzzle is missing.

@ Megadude

the PS2 gen was completley different. They could focus on just developing forPS2 since it had by FAR the largest user base and they would be able to sell it on one console and still make large profits. This gen both 360 and PS3 are so close in sales if you make it exsclusive you miss out on nearly half of all the target audience. GTA 4 was the most expensive game ever made....do you really think that putting an insanely expensive game like GTA5 will be on just PS3 they could still generate a profit? No way and if somehow they did it would be an incredibly small profit. Trust me the next GTA is no doubt a multi-plat game.

GTA 5 will be PS3 exclusive, Sony started buying exclusive games and started marketing better now.

So TAke 2 just decided to take one for the team, and they signed a contract for absolutly free?

Come on man, thats so unrealistic.  Contracts cost money...everybody knows that.

So how i'm i wrong?

personally i think Rockstar could pull completely different game like Bully 2 - though it better stay multiplatform if they would announce it cause this is my favourite rockstar game.

*Sigh* I get all that. But there's evedence to suggest that there was some kind of contract there. Or is it just a rumor that Rockstar needed to make this exclusive IP to get out of the contract.

I'm not speaking to you specifically, but there is no need to spam the obvious financial implications behind why a GTA 5 Exclusive on PS3 would be unrealistic. Let's get back to the contract discussion.

There is no need to be a:

your talking about the unannounced exsclusive game RS is making for the PS3? I thought everyone figured it was going to be a new IP. At least that seems to make alot more sense than GTA.
