@squall.... so install the game then... thats why its an option. why wouldnt you? I installed Lost odyssey (all 4 discs) you dont even have to swap discs when you go backwards in the game, lets you leave disc 4 in.

Yeah i guess, but i hate having to wait forever for each disk to install! I installed Mass Effect so that works fine, but it would be nice for the console not to sound like it is going to kill my PS3 (which it sits beside) when i decide to switch between games lol

My 8th 360 RRoD a few months back. been good so far though, but for how long...I feel your pain man :(

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

While my 360 died once of RRoD I sent it in and it has been fine ever since (another 1.5 years after the RRoD). However, if it dies again, I will get it repaired and then purchase a new 360 Arcade model. That way I can use HDMI and not have to worry about RRoD, and get a new 3 year warranty on it just in case.

HDMI does digital audio and video so there is no need for the optical audio. If your stereo only does optical hook the 360 up to the TV and the TV up to the stereo.

No because the TV will out put that in stereo instead of surround sound.   If you have a receiver you want to go directly to that and not to the tv first

shouldn't it be three years from the newest replacement?

Yes. I think that's by law. You should threaten to go to small claims court or whatever your equivalent is. They'd back down before it ever happened.

its 90 days or three years from the original purchase. What ever is longer

8th system, Shadowblind?....goddamn!!

Yeah, unfortunately my receiver has two optical inputs and no HDMI. But, like squilliam (I think) said, I can't really see a difference graphically on 1080i. Still, nice to know if I upgrade TVs sometime I'm good to go. It would be nice to upscale DVDs but I tried it and it didn't look that much better, no biggie.

I had to work and I was late because of this but I'm dying to actually play something on the new chip and see how quiet it is. I never cared much because I just crank my stereo but it will be nice to know I have a better running cooler system.

That 256 memory built in is kind of useless IMO. But interesting none the less. I guess if my hard drive crashed at least I would have a place to save games while I waited.

As for dedication, if I had traded in and went with PS3, which I really didn't want to do to begin with and lose all my gamerscore and friends. I also would have had about 20 games, drums, 3 guitars, arcade stick, memory cards and controllers... just too much hassle to tote all that up to gamestop and then get ripped off anyway :P But believe me all this will weigh heavy on my mind come next generation. Microsoft better build a solid system next time or I may switch to Sony or Nintendo, and weep a tear in the process.

Lol not really :P I just figured every RRoD thread needs someone to say that. I'm actually on my 4th...and while I have gotten frustrated every time it does RRoD, the 360's library is just too good to give up on.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

The only 360 that ever RRoD on me was a launch day unit (November 22, 2005). It RRoD on me this March. That is more than 3 years old. MS fixed no questions asked. Simply visit www.xbox.com and arrange for repair. Dont frustrate yourself by calling a call center. Use the online tools and call center as last resort.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
