@The one above me: 500/550 can also be true. Don't remember. Was a long time since i looked into that stuff. Anyway, the difference in memory is simply that the PS3 has it split and the X360 i one chunk for the whole system.

Plus,MS offers a second development kit that gives games more RAM for true AAA games from AAA developers. What did Sony do? Drop the price of it`s development kits from 12 000$ to 2000 $.

Why? Because the memory is split and you can`t go around it. Good job,MS.

I see where you're coming from. Btw the Xenos and RV770 Gpus were designed by the same team, R600 was done by their other team. Vaguely, something in my head says that the ArtX team was the basis of the Xenos/RV770 team as well, but im only 30% sure on this.

For the first part: Link?

Well, ArtX got bought out quite a while ago. I don't think you can point to one part of AMD and say: "that's the ArtX team". All of their GPUs since R300 have been heavily based on ArtX technology.

Unrelated; how long to you think people will refer to ATI as ATI? Now that it's AMD?

Sorry, it was something I read a while ago. It was sourced from someone I trust, Jawed I think on Beyond3d.com/forum.

People will probably refer to it as ATI indefinately, they still use the name on the GPU boxes. Also people use the name SCE for the Playstation family in spite of it being a part of Sony. So yeah probably indefinately.

Tease.

The 360s architecture is much more efficient while the PS3s has more raw power. General purpose the 360 wins but with very careful and well optimized code the PS3 can take the advantage. It all comes down to how well the developer can program. But the GPU on the 360 is more powerful and also much more efficient due to the unified pipelines. GPU wise the 360 handily beats the PS3 but with good optimization of the cell the PS3 is the slightly stronger console. Also the 512 MB unified ram on the 360 is an advantage over the PS3. Ram wise the 360 wins and also GPU wise. The PS3 only is stronger because of what the cell is"capable" of doing but most developers seem to be too lazy to really harness the cell.

wrong.

sony offers the phyre engine with works great with RSX and the cell and lets the cell offload work from the gpu.

and works great with multi cpu processors  and it's multiplatform.

and sony firmwares update are being updated so the OS uses less ram.

So your here to defend the PS3 or disagree the the Xenos in undercredited?

i am here just to comment... so?

it's a free world, i don't need a reason to do things.

Another thing to consider:

360 - Xenos: 11.2GB/s
PS3 - RSX: 12GB/s

(calculated ((clock speed * bits) / 8)).

Yes but that is maximum efficiency while the RSX on paper (in that specific example) may be better than the Xenos it will never run anywhere close 100% effeciency where as the Xenos can run at 90-95% effeciency. Thats the beauty of flexible pipelines and one of the reasons why the Xenosos the superior GPU. Only when the Cell helps out the RSX do the PS3 games look as good or even better (killzone 2) than 360 games.
