I'll give you cheaper games (and free extra content), but you don't have to pay for Live (no, you don't have to) and PSN/Wii are both free and do I really need complete control to play Gears, inFamous, Uncharted, LBP, Mario Kart, or most of the other console games? (no desire to change button layout? choose your online mathes on MK? add some AA? choice eh, who needs it really) No, I just need to pop in the disk and go. I don't have to fiddle with drive space (fiddle? why do consoles have 20GB, 40GB SKUs?), shortcuts, resolution settings (i've had more trouble with PS3/360 rez than PC), graphical settings (that's the control I was talking about, you don't have to change them), and everything else (like overpriced wireless adaptors, overpriced hard drives, 1m short cables, subscriptions).

And again, it may work for the college guy/bachalor/12 year old to have a giant PC in his living room, but for most other people it doesn't really fly. (takes up less room than 360+PS3 and isn't anywhere near as ugly those 2, which sane woman allows a grill (PS3) under the TV, 5 Wiis would be nicer to look at)

  1. Console games get free content too and do you have to pay for things like the Pitt or Broken Steel on the PC or can you even get it?
  2. Most games let you have many controller layout options and generally the default is the best option.
  3. I'll give you fiddling with space was a weak argument
  4. Why should I care about AA?  The game is suited to best fit the console because that's what it's made for.  Most people don't like fiddling with a bunch of graphical settings they don't even fully understand in the first place.
  5. What do you mean trouble with resolution settings on consoles?  What games actually let you change resolution settings?  You can set the resolution to the resolution of your TV but beyond that there's nothing else to do.
  6. So the 360 has a single overpriced accessory (Wifi adapter) and suddenly everything is overpriced?  I don't even know what you're talking about with 1m short cables, are you talking about the PS3 charging cable?  You mean a standard USB cable that you don't even have to use while playing?  I've admitted my weak arguments, at least admit yours.
  7. It's much easier to convince a wife to allow a piece of electronic equipment rather than a computer and they do look very different.  Also, if you have a high end gaming PC, do you really want it crammed inside an entertainment center?  Also, most people PC's for things besides gaming meaning I would either have to do work on the TV (which means nobody else can watch TV) or move the computer back and forth which isn't fun.

You all do realize that it's possible to play console games and PC games.

You don't really have to pick...

point 7 is stupid. Case straps and case wheels are available for this reason. Hell, just make a handle and screw it to the case if needed.

I have to add to 7. I have a HTPC, and sometimes its a PITA with regards to the HDMI handshaking. Sometimes the TV doesn't recognize the PC after its gone into sleep mode. This has only improved recently, but its one of the hassles of HTPCs. Im typing on the HTPC now, but really it completely sucks as a gaming platform and I have perhaps one of the best KB + Mouse combos for the job. The keyboard is light and balanced and the laser mouse registers on the rough fabric of my lounge chair.

Tease.

So you're saying it isn't a pain in the ass everytime you want to play a game or work on the computer you have to unhook everything, move the computer, and rehook everything?

I don't have the cleanest/simplest setup but it isn't bad and about as easy I can make it and moving and hooking everything up isn't fun, it's a chore (especially since my computer lives downstairs and my TV lives on the second floor).

You do realize that you don't understand what I'm saying.  I've been doing that for....well since I was ten.  Now I'm fed up with them not working right.  I admit I'll still pickup some PC exclusives.  Diablo III comes to mind.

I fixed that problem quick-like.  I have a hdmi cable/USBs running through the wall to my LCD TV.  Whenever I want to play games I just switch monitors and play.  It's a bitch to initially hook up but worth it.

Edit- Sorry didn't see the different stories of the house.  Not sure the cables can carry info over that long of a distance.  Even if it could it probably wouldn't be worth it...

If that's the case then why did you make this thread?

Argumentative:  I'm done with PC gaming.  It sucks.
Non-argumentative:  I'll be picking up multiplatform (PC/console) games on consoles because I'm having a lot of bad experiences with PC versions.

It seems like you've made this thread a lot more hostile than it needed to be.

I think PC, Console and Handheld gaming all have their own advantages and disadvantages. I prefer to let all 3 methods entertain me, rather then excluding 1.

wtf have you been reading?? When did I say that it sucks???  the first line of the post says I love PC gaming.  I'm just tired of it not working

Don't put words in my mouth.
