Square Closed Mega Theater Confirms FF XIII "PS3 Only"

During my foray to the Square Enix Closed Mega Theater presentation, I saw the Final Fantasy XIII trailer and at the end the words "For PS3 Only" flashed on to the screen. At first I thought maybe the wording was due to translation but it also seemed like it could have been a definitive. PS3 ONLY! The same phrase was also present at the end of the Final Fantasy XIII Versus trailer. So there you are, according to the trailers Final Fantasy XIII is a confirmed PS3 ONLY title.

Konami is becoming quite an outspoken company when it comes to the success or lack thereof of Sony's PlayStation 3, and at the company's Tokyo Game Show press event this week, it couldn't help but throw a tongue-in-cheek jab at the console's expense. Do you see? It's not just we gamers who like to kick a console when it's down.

Executive Director of Online Contents Production Kazuya Takahashi was talking about mobile phone gaming when he prepared the insult cannon for firing. From IGN:

While making a point about how every consumer has a mobile phone (and it is therefore the biggest market for gaming), he asked everyone in attendance who had a Wii. Next, he asked who had a Nintendo DS. Finally he asked, "How many of you have a PlayStation 3? Probably none."

Ouchies, that's cold. Also, before the defensive Sony fans ask why this is news (they never question bad news about the Wii or Xbox 360), remember that Konami has threatened in the past to look into and maybe revise its exclusivity deals with the PS3 if sales don't pick up. Personally, I just think it's quite funny.

 

I love the smell of flaming in the morning. Smells like, victory.

My take, Sony brought all this uncertainty on themselves, just as Nintendo did the last two gens.

TGS 2007: PS3 gets Katamari game ... just not a beautiful one

After all the back-and-forth, swings and roundabouts nonsense surrounding Beautiful Katamari and the PlayStation 3, it seems that all the confusion is finally coming to an end with a surprise TWIST OH MY GOD! It's finally, truly been confirmed -- The PlayStation 3 will NOT get Beautiful Katamari. It will, however, get a Katamari game in the future. This should finally make everybody happy.

Beautiful Katamari director Jun Morikawa cleared the air at the Tokyo Game Show, putting an end to months of arguments and on again/off again speculation. He did not, however, go into any details on what the PlayStation 3 game would entail. All we know is that a Katamari game of some description will be touched by the magic of Blu-ray eventually.

We now prepare for the next stage of console fanboy arguments surrounding the Katamari series -- which game is better? I can't wait for that one to start.
Namco seems to want to set fanboys off coming and going.

Is there any confirmation of Katamari on the Wii? There was that confusion on the Namco web site a couple weeks back. Does this mean that this unnamed, second Katamari is for both PS3 and Wii?

So many questions...

 Hey, have there been any announcements of a new Suikoden yet? I am still ticked that I & II on the PSP haven't been localized. Those were two reasons I was planning on getting a PSP.

@ Jam, MGS4 will be a timed exclusive most probably.... remember MGS 2 went to xbox 1 even though at the time the PS2 had triple the sales of the XBox, so now that the 360 has more sales then PS3, they will definintly put it on the 360 at some point because they did that with MGS 2 to Xbox 1 and that had lower sales then the PS2

Yes, but MGS4 has Sony trademarked itemsin the game itself, much like MGS3 and the monkeys from Ape Escape. In MGS4, Snake uses a Sixaxis to control the little robot thing that Otacon gives him.
