Pikmin sold 1.6 Million and Pikmin2 sold 1 Million(Everyone knows that for a Nintendo game this isn't all that good)
Does Pikmin 3 have a better chance at selling on the Wii Console?
Can it be another Million seller or will sales fall like pikmin2 did?
Can it reach the 2 million mark?
Will it become a mario kart and be a hardcore and casual title?
How much will Pikmin 3 sell?
It all depends on how much NPC versions sell. If they sell. Pikmin 3 will sell. But I say 1.5 million. for lifetime sales
4 million... seriously.
They will promote it in the same way they have all the popular wii games, by saying look how great and beneficial it is. Look at the controls too. Also the wii has twice the units the gamecube did so the game will have a larger consumer base.
Being somewhat serious, 1.25 million units. It has probably gain a slightly bigger fanbase due to the NPC iterations and there are always those Wii owners that will buy the game as their first Pikmin experience. I think about ~700k returning fans will buy it new at some point with the other 350k either skipping it or buying it used.
Pixel Art can be fun.
Pikmin 3 has a large casual appeal. It has got a cute factor over 9000. Nintendo should be able to exploit that with a big commercial campagne push. They got an excellent product and the market for it. I would expect them to launch it as a new big IP. Isn't that the reason they relaunched the previous parts? Designed to clear the path and build up some hype already.
2 million ( if Nintendo treads it like excitebots) - 5 million ( if Nintendo pushes it like mario)

The sales pattern between Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2 is very similar to Metroid Prime.
So by going off of that I would estimate that Pikmin 3 will sell 1.5 mil.
Depends on promotion, hype and advertisement. If it's anything like with Excitebots or Disaster, then 1 million might not be that easy.
